Alden Richards got a pleasant surprise from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) and GMA Records

He received  an award for the outstanding pre-selling performance of his album, Wish I May

The other half of Aldub turned emotional over the totally unexpected surprise

Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards,  the other half of the famous love team AlDub, has his hands full at the moment, and yet here comes another blessing which comes in the form of a gold record award as presented to him by Marvic Benedicto, chairman of Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI), after his ‘Thinking Out Loud’ rendition of Ed Sheeran’s song in the Saturday episode of Eat Bulaga.

Benedicto and a representative from GMA records were called onstage, and in the presence of PARI President Alvin de Vera, the television actor and recording artist, together with GMA Records Managing Director Rene Salta, was presented by Benedicto with a gold award for the  outstanding pre-selling performance of his ‘Wish I May’ album.

The chairman then declares: “In behalf of PARI, we’d like to congratulate Alden Richards and GMA Records and the AlDub Nation for this gold award for outstanding achievement in digital sales.”

Interestingly, the album earned its gold award even before it could be launched – and such magic may also be attributed perhaps to the zooming popularity  of his loveteam with Maine Mendoza, who’s tagged as the dubsmash queen.

The teary-eyed Alden then said after accepting the award: “Wala na naman akong masabi. Thank you po. Thank you kasi actually hindi pa po lumalabas ‘yung album eh [the album hasn’t even been launched yet]. Thank you sa lahat, thank you kay Lord, sa lahat ng [to all the] fans, sa family ko, kay Mom, sa Eat Bulaga!. Oh my God, thank you po. Thank you so much. Aldenatics, AlDub Nation, para sa inyo ‘to [this is for you],” he said.

Alden humbly offered this success to God, to his deceased mom, and to everyone who loves him, the AlDub Nation whose support is all out, and of course, to “Meng”; otherwise known as Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza.

His album includes cover songs: “Thinking Out Loud” and “God Gave Me You” which were made more popular due to the ‘kalyeserye’” plus two original singles, “Urong Sulong” and “Wish I may” — which is the carrier single.

The album was officially released in the afternoon of October 17 at SM North EDSA Cinema 11.
