Hi

Have you been thinking of getting a used Soul for "whatever" reason ? Perhaps my personal experience

will help you in making your decision !!

Some info (for Canadians mostly) if you are interested,I don't know what the USA equivilent is.

I was a little worried at first about buying a "daily rental",as some people call them, but let me explain.

There are bonuses included with the Kia Certified Pre-Owned (C.P.O.)program.

1: Balance of factory warranty transferred to ME(I have 65,504 km left or until June 2019),verified by Kia Canada

2: Roadside assistance until June 2019,(it's really a CAA contract) transferred to ME.

3: Paint-less Dent removal on body panels until June 2017

4: Key Fob and keys replaced (including programming) 2 keys and fobs if lost/damaged until 2017(* see below)

5: 4 oil/filter/lube/car washes...use anytime. (pay difference for synthetic) ...also free multi point inspection with print-out.

6: Kia 135 things done/checked/replaced to factory specs.....it's much more than a "safety check" required in Ontario.

7: Car fax info....Special Note!! If you use that website that you lookup your car info using VIN#, due to Canadian

Privacy Law,the previous private owners are NOT ALLOWED to be published.Sometimes the previous owners leave their

names/dates in the owners manual

8: 30 day/2000km exchange (if not satisfied) to a different car on dealer lot where purchased.

9: Kia "Rewards" card as dealer registered me already.

10 Kia Owners manual is included with purchase (or dealer will order one)

EXTRA INFO and 1.6 engine stuff

When my Soul was delivered to the dealer, it only came with 1 key fob...but NOT to worry, another was ordered

and received it 2 days later. They re-programmed both new and original fobs, and put a new battery in old one.

* Key fobs are NOT CHEAP !! (key fob=$219.15 + key insert=$40.81 + programming and labor=$89.95 +tax(HST)=$45.54

=Total $395.85 CDN. also got free car wash !!

I used 1 of 4 oil changes(encoded onto "Rewards" Kia card),as I like synthetic.

Note: Kia synthetic oil 5W20 is made in Canada by Shell or BP in plastic 1 ltr.containers.(NO bulk oil drums).

I talked with senior tech about capacity of 1.6 and it is 3.6 ltr WITH filter. Many people complain about

"overfilled" dipstick.....and the reason why is simple. The 1.6 "traps" approx. 300ml in various places and will

NOT drain out completely(gravity doesn't help). Therefore, of the 4 (1 ltr.) bottles I bought, it used 3.3 ltr.(1 ltr=1000ml)

+ 300ml "trapped" oil in engine= 3.6 ltr total,leaving 700ml in 4th bottle,which I took home for lawnmower,etc.

My dipstick is exactly on full mark. I noticed the measuring end of dipstick is a different color than the rest. This is so

you can see the level better(more contrast),even with new oil.

.....just a couple more things that might interest you.

If for some reason, the engine blew up, or the transmission fell out, or alternator started to smoke, I don't have to worry

about the "previous history" maintenance schedule.Kia in effect starts over with "remaining balance" and I make a NEW history

as I do the recommended maintenance until time/km's is up. I don't even have to do the full 42k-48k schedule, because most

things have been DONE already.... Just oil/filter !! You wont have problems with engine warranty regarding sludge buildup/filter

Hope something above was helpful to you...even the "lurkers"

Terry
