(KGO) – A grassroots community initiative to save lives has taken root in Marin County. It’s a result of the large number of prescription drug overdoses.
DEA Agent Bruce Goldberg has the grim facts.
“In Marin County in the last 2 years, twice a month we’re losing somebody.”
A building block of activists including health workers, law enforcement and parents have joined to form RXsafe Marin to target doctors and pharmacies who over prescribe opiates and dealers who make the fake stuff.
Susan Kim lost her son to a cough syrup codeine concoction bragged about by rappers. Kim reminds parents to not keep drugs in easy reach of kids, and that local Fire Departments can help get rid of them.
