Trust me on this: If your dad likes to golf, he’d swap a day on the links for that “World’s Greatest Dad” coffee mug.

Sure, the mug is cute, functional, and will be around a lot longer than one day on the links.

However, a free day off to spend at one of Southern California’s many world class golf courses will be absolutely treasured by a golf dad.

It will say a lot about you, too—you really get this guy and what he likes. If you’re considering sending dad on a golf outing for Father’s Day, here are some recommended courses in the Inland Empire.

Oak Quarry, Riverside

Hole #14 is the stuff that dreams are made of, the kind of Par 3 that must be seen to be fully appreciated.

Journey at Pechanga, Temecula

Winds, water, elevation changes, and slopes make this course as challenging as it is magnificent. It’s also the home course for the annual K-FROG Cares Golf Classic.

Jurupa Hills, Riverside

The beautiful, well maintained fairways and greens will have golfers questioning the actual existence of a drought.

The Country Club at Soboba Springs, San Jacinto

The Nationwide Tour stopped here in 2009—it’s that good. You can expect resort style golfing at a more affordable price.

Bear Creek Golf Club, Murrieta

The oak trees that line the course are must part of the atmosphere. It’s a private course, so you’ll have to pair up dad with a member.

Oak Valley Golf Club, Beaumont

Zagat rated as one of America’s top golf courses, it is home to the second stage of the PGA qualifying school.

Goose Creek Golf Club, Mira Loma

Great layout in the Hidden Valley Wildlife Area. It’s not overly difficult and very kind to average golfers with the occasional great shot.

Victoria Country Club, Riverside

This private course opened in 1903, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in Southern California.

Legends Golf Course, Beaumont

Morongo golf Club at Tukwet Canyon features two amazing golf courses. It’s tough to pick between the two, but The Legends has a slight edge over The Champions.

Eagle Glen Golf Club, Corona

Spectacular and often breath taking views make this course equally popular with golfers and wedding parties.

The great Arnold Palmer once wrote, “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated.” The same could be said of many of our local golf courses. Here’s hoping dad gets a chance to enjoy a round this weekend!
