Is it going to be called the 250BR? I only heard that there will be either a new addition to the BR line at the top and/or that the 246BR will be revamped. This would be available in the next year or two.
If they end up simply scaling up the 230BR (which is a scaled up 210BR) in general principal, that would be fine. It would be a decent layout for a larger bay boat. Yeah, some would find the aft casting deck unnecessary or unwanted. But it is a bay boat and bay boats have them. I would like to see a low profile rail up front, along with a port and starboard seat options on top of the rod lockers. My biggest struggle with my 210 loaded is getting more weight up front. There is only that small seat forward of the console. I want to be able to get at least 3 people up there when running heavy. I would like to see a different hull design. Not just a longer (210/230) boat with a little more beam. I want to see at least one step. Also, I would be ok with a slightly deeper draft. 210 has 12", 230 has 14". I would be ok with as high as 18" (with largest engine option, full fuel, etc.) on this new BR. More added weight than from 210 to 230 is ok by me. The whole point is better ride. The 210/230 BR should be more for the kids that want to go 62mph with an F250/F300. The 250 BR should be for the old man that will gladly give up 5mph to get a better ride with that power. Heck, I would give up 10 mph to get an even better ride. Also, this new boat should be able to handle 3 footers without beating you to death. Moderate chop should be easy on the body, heavy chop should be manageable. All this, of course, for a fair price. There are some pretty strong competitors in the 25-26 class. There are not a lot, but what is there is pretty darn good. I just don't think KW will be able to field a strong competitor to the Pathfinder 2600, or others (which I will not mention to avoid a bash fest). KW's position here should be to provide a BBB choice. You see the big boys, now here is what you can get for $25k less. If the 250BR ends up $100k rigged, umm, good luck with that. It needs to be $70k-$80k rigged, not more.
