An internship is an excellent way to gain practical, firsthand experience in the food industry. Kerry interns receive competitive pay, working as an engaged member of the team and applying academic knowledge to valued business projects. **Description and Responsibilities** **:**
The R&D Internship role within the Fluid Dairy R&D group will provide the opportunity to develop and gain exposure to:
+ Insights that are driving current technologies in culinary and food science to deliver great tasting and nutritious products
+ Product development skills (formulation, processing, characterization)
+ Application and sensory evaluation skills
+ Guidance and mentorship from management and junior/senior scientists
+ Presentation skills
**Duties and responsibilities**
+ Work with processing equipment in lab and pilot plant to further process ingredients and flavours to develop new and improved processing methods and products. e.g. HTST, UHT, culturing, spraydrying, blending, agglomeration
+ Work with ingredients from different suppliers and from within Kerry to understand functionality and flavour as to how they perform when further processed and in application
+ Sample preparation and weighing
+ Test existing/new products analytically and in application - e.g. Ice Cream, Yoghurt, Enhanced Milks, Cultured Dairy products
+ Analyse, record, compile and present datacollected from research trials and lab experiments
+ Confer with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve problems – e.g. process engineers, flavor experts.
+ Attend team meetings and mentorship meetings with Manager / Scientists
+ Weekly report to capture progress, key learnings and projected workplans
+ Present to senior management at end of internship
**Qualifications** **:**
+ Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science or related field (Chemistry, Biology, Bio-engineering)
+ Have a passion for science and learning
+ Be comfortable and confident working in a laboratory setting with colleagues, chemicals and equipment
+ Exhibit professionalism and maturity – integrity with data collection, portrays a positive image of Kerry to customers
+ Team player and can also work independently
+ Demonstrate flexibility – ability to readily change from project to project depending on prorities; willing to work on assignments of varying difficulty
+ Have a strong scientific background
+ Exhibit attention to detail and proper laboratory practices – safety, hygiene, note taking, equipment maintenance
