**Description and Responsibilities** **:**

Kerry is looking for a driven candidate for the Instrument and Controls Technician for our Rochester, MN, plant. This is a 1st shift position with hours from 8:00am - 4:30pm CST. You will be part of the Plant Maintenance team, ensuring that the plant runs safely and smoothly. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your day to day job will be mostly planned out, working on repairing, maintaining, calibrating, adjusting and installing industrial and controlling instrumentation. Typical sensors you will work with are pressure, flow, temperature, conductivity etc. A large part of the job will also involve day to day troubleshooting of the equipment sensors, electrical control circuits boards, PLC's, etc. An in-depth understanding of the PLC hardware troubleshooting is required. Knowledge of ladder logic programming is not required, but will be an asset if you already know it.

The position will require working in the production plant, at ground or elevated levels, in wet, hot or cold conditions, operating forklifts or scissors lifts. Accountability and job ownership will be critical. You may have to stay late or come in at off hours to troubleshoot or complete the job. Depending upon your business, you may be assigned other works related to, but not limited to, rebuilding valves, pumps and motors etc. You will be required to quickly learn these tasks.

Responsibilities:

+ Calibrating and repairing instruments and associated equipment, measuring levels, pressures, temperatures, flow, and analytical processes

+ Working with electronic control systems including microprocessors, sensors, and final control elements used in automated processes

+ Testing instrumentation and control systems and maintaining test equipment

+ Consulting manuals, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics

+ Repairing and adjusting system components or removing and replacing defective parts

+ Installing control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment

+ Inspecting and testing the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using testing devices

+ Performing scheduled preventative maintenance work

+ Installing control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment

+ Observing safety in accordance with government and company standards

+ Calibrate sensors and analyzers and configure logic in control systems

+ Give technical guidance and assistance to less experienced personnel

+ Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data

+ Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems

+ Instrumentation and control technicians interact with other tradespersons and professionals such as process operators, steamfitters/pipefitters, welders, industrial mechanics (millwrights), electricians and engineers

+ Assisting engineering in plant design, modification and hazard analysis

+ Must pay close attention to safety and may be called out in emergencies

**Qualifications** **:**

+ Possess good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills

+ Electrical and mechanical skills, problem solving skills for issues that are not easily apparent

+ Familiarity with plant operations, instrumentation and control systems, and computer programs are important

+ A two-year associate degree in engineering technology or a related field will be preferred

+ Minimum 3-5 years of production/plant work experience is required

+ Food industry is preferred but not required

+ Must have strong computer skills

+ Must be local, or driving distance, to Rochester, MN
