**Description and Responsibilities** **:**

**Overview of Role:**

+ **Sales & Commercial:** Grow top line sales of the business by developing strong strategic relationships within customers’ organization including R&D, Marketing and Procurement and foster counterpart relationships within Kerry (this is a critical success factor). This will be facilitated by: 1) collaborating with Sales Account Mgrs. Embedded in the End Use Markets (EUMs) and corporate account managers 2) supporting selected distributors

This component of the role will involve:

Timely and effective communication of the technical benefits of Kerry’s Food

Protection and Fermentation Ingredient offerings (i) within Kerry and (ii) to existing and potential customers with appropriate follow- up on day-to day customer queries and communication of key action points to relevant personnel.

Coordination of technical and commercial support for Kerry’s existing Food Protection and Fermentation business in NAM.

+ **Development of Business Strategy & Plans:** Accountable for achieving a deep level of understanding of customers objectives and strategies, competitive intelligence, market trends (including changes in regulatory environment), consumer insights, and identification of opportunity spaces. The objective is to translate these into actionable business plans that will achieve significant value creation for Kerry and the customer. Technical Business Development will be responsible for the execution of such plans/ strategies. Initial focus will be on the Meat segment but will eventually include other EUMs such as bakery, dairy, and culinary.

+ **Commercial Support of EUM Sales Teams:** a) Develop value propositions/ customer facing communications/ presentations for specific customer opportunities. b)provide product specific information needed to support sales opportunities, c) ensure that pricing information is provided on a timely basis, d) conduct product training (group and one-on-one, e) other misc. sales support.

+ **Product Line Management:** Work with Technical Business Development Director to effectively manage the Food Protection and Fermentation Product Lines: a) Establish pricing strategies, b) develop value propositions, c) create and update product literature and information (Product Information Sheets, Sell Sheets, Brochures, Application Guides, position statements, etc.); d) establish commercial/ logistical components of our offering; e.g. Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), labelling, package configuration, product branding, etc.; e) work with Kerry Regulatory team to ensure products meet regulatory requirements.

+ **Identification of New Opportunity Spaces** : A key element of the role will be to identify new growth opportunities for Kerry’s Food Protection and Fermentation Ingredients in North America. This will involve developing robust commercial and R&D project pipelines to drive growth with selected customers and target markets. Meat will be the initial focus but it will likely expand to include others such as bakery, dairy, beverage, and culinary. NAM is the primary geography but it may also expand to include other geographies as well.

Management of sales forecasts and supporting customer service to ensure inventory stocks accurately reflect customer demand.

Develop a detailed technical understanding of Kerry’s Food Protection and Fermentation Ingredients product range and applications.

**Qualifications** **:**

**Qualifications, Skills and experience**

+ University degree in Microbiology, Food/Nutrition Science, Chemistry/ Biology, or related field from an accredited institution.

+ Market experience - the successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience in a similar commercial sales/business development role.

+ Experience in the food industry is essential.

+ Ability to establish trusting and deep-seated relationships with external customers. Most have a proven track record of developing business with external customers.

+ Demonstrated ability to understand competitive and marketplace Knowledge and translate into an effective strategy and action plan to deliver a customer.

+ Must be capable of independently developing a strategy, influencing others and increasing contribution.

+ Specific experience with ingredients that preserve and protect food is a plus.

+ Good working knowledge of relevant Regulatory requirements

+ Strong demonstrated negotiation skills

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

+ Fluent English speaker

+ This role requires regular travel.
