**Description and Responsibilities** **:**
§ Position Objective and Overview of Role:
· lead develop the RD&A Cell Nutrition team and will support the growth of the business by helping to develop new and innovative products
· manage the bench top operations for Cell Nutrition RD&A laboratory and subsequent scale up to the pilot plant and factory level
· manage customer project to understand performance, quality, and reproducibility of Kerry’s Cell Nutrition solutions, supporting TSS investigations as needed
**Qualifications** **:**
Key Activities
§ Lead RD&A team to perform New product development activities and support new product introductions
§ Manage, train and develop talent of RD&A cell nutrition team – establishing succession planning
§ Work with Business development to deliver on Innovation projects and new customer products to reach new and existing markets
§ Works cross-functionally with PD/PT in Norwich, TSS, Operations, Quality, Business development and Sales
§ Commercialization of new products and implementation at the plant level, including complex blends
§ Develop specifications for raw materials and finished products and revision of existing product specifications; providing all information for new products as required by the New Product Implementation (NPI) protocol
§ Interface with the Process Development and Product Improvement team for commercialization purposes
§ 30% Travel with Sales team to key customer meetings where product expertise is required
§ Cost review/analysis for new products w/Commercial
§ Qualifications: M.S. or Ph.D in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioprocess Engineering, Biology or other related fields. 3-5 years’ experience in Biopharmaceutical/Cell culture development media area
· Experience managing an R&D team for 1-2 years
§ Expert in CHO cell culture techniques, media optimization, experienced in media formulation, strong Bioreactor knowledge and familiarization with plant GMP.
§ Strong knowledge of mammalian cell metabolism and metabolites, cellular physiology, media optimisation, GRAS organisms and GMOs.
§ Thorough knowledge of protein glycosylation analysis
§ Molecular biology, protein biochemistry, genetic engineering techniques and knowledge of Biopharmaceutical industry.
§ Familiar with experimental design, standard laboratory data logging and reporting.

§ Manage laboratory supplies and ensure participate in routine lab maintenance and cleaning is performed, engage in misc. site related initiatives and accept occasional off-hours/flexed time
§ Capable of learning Bioreactor operator software, Cell counting equipment and HPLC methods
§ Self-motivated team player
