**Description and Responsibilities** **:**

Position Summary: As a key member of the RDA team, the candidate will use knowledge of products and technologies to identify and respond to opportunities that will delight and nourish both our customers and consumers. The successful candidate will join a growing and exciting organization with the opportunity for continued learning, advancement, travel and the ability to make an impact on the food sold in stores both in the USA and internationally! The ideal candidate will have the scientific/technical expertise to independently deliver on projects and will have a base understanding of product commercialization and production capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

1. Conduct research including new product research and the development of foods.

2. Develop new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, quality control and packaging.

3. Work in pilot plant and support production scale ups and commercializations.

1. Field customer requests both internal and external to satisfy project needs from a conceptual phase through commercialization and troubleshooting.

2. Participate in ideation/brainstorming

3. Develop gold standards while working with Culinary and subject matter experts (SMEs)

4. Match competitive products

5. Formulation Optimization

6. Concept to Commercialization

7. Execute internal processes

8. Ability to understand and troubleshoot customer processes

9. Be a strong part of customer facing team to deliver solutions that will “Nourish and Delight” our customers.

10. Study methods to improve quality of foods such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods

11. Assist customers with technical issues that may arise.

12. Travel to Kerry production plants and to customers.

13. Must be able to taste and smell chemicals, flavors and food products.

14. Must be able to stand for long periods in a laboratory setting and lift 50 pounds.

15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

16. Must work well in teams.

**Qualifications** **:**

**Qualifications:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. BS in Food Science/Engineering/related science or engineering field from an accredited institution. MS/PhD in Food Science/Engineering/related science or engineering field is desirable but not required.

2. 1-3 years of experience in related field of work from the food service industry.Preferred experience in sauces and fillings for ice creams and/or baked goods.

3. Internship in related field or applicable food processing technology and statistical process experience.

4. Knowledgeable about food chemistry, sensory, microbiology, food packaging systems and food engineering. Product development experience a plus.

5. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

6. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

7. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

**Qualifications / Experience:**

+ BS, MS, Ph.D. in Food Technology/Science/Culinary or other related fields

+ 2+ years related work experience

+ Scientific totality of evidence review and translation to business opportunities, messaging and positioning
