Districts make their own choices about what kinds of technology would best address their curriculum goals and provide students with support. But it is becoming increasingly important to equip staff and curriculum leaders with the ability to analyze and contribute to the plans for integrating technology at the classroom level.

Training for Teacher Leaders, Mentors and Integration Specialists:
Technology is constantly changing, and leaders need to learn to adapt quickly. Leaders need to be able to evaluate, select and implement tools, and those tools change rapidly. Our training is based on the concept that while students need access to a variety of tools, they will need to adapt what they learn to technologies which have not yet been invented.

You will also receive an iPad (or equivalent) with teaching and learning tools installed.

HOW CAN TECHNOLOGY FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM?
Do you have leadership at each school that understands this? Developing leadership is critical to implementing, reforming, changing. The Ed Tech Training and Certification Program is designed to help a district’s technology leaders with tools, resources and support to innovate, explore and develop. A good plan for education technology begins with curriculum needs, not specific gadgetry.

A. LCAP Support and Technology Planning, Reporting and Monitoring

Districts must set goals and monitor them. Technology has become a large part of the process because of the need to collect, measure and communicate data in such a way that goals can be set with stakeholders. Topics covered include:

- Developing LCAP goals based on real data
- Data collection and interpretation
- Making data presentations so everyone can understand
- Assisting your administrators with data presentations to boards, teachers and parents - Helping teachers contribute helpful student data
- Presenting data in an infographic using free or low cost tools
- Finding actionable data about your district concerning Common Core and the 4 Cs and designing training and mentoring programs for teachers and staff

B. ONLINE DOCUMENT SHARING AND COLLABORATION TOOLS

In addition to online systems for collaborative work, there are many document/ resource sharing tools which can support curriculum goals. At various grade levels, teachers will need to facilitate shared tasks and be able to evaluate collaborative work created online. We must develop professional learning communities, understand a variety of sharing tools and resources and making comparisons / evaluations for our own districts.

C. GOOGLE APPS IN THE CLASSROOM

Many districts have elected to use Google Apps in curriculum because of easy access, no or low cost, collaborative features and use on all sorts of equipment. Participants will gain hands-on experience to maximize a wide variety of classroom support.

Beyond teaching students the skills and ethics of the digital world, district staff must understand legal and ethical use of materials in the classroom, cybersafety and communicating both globally and within their communities.
