Denver is a beautiful city filled with cultural treasures worth visiting, whether you are in town for a few days or simply live nearby. With neighborhoods filled with arts and culture and fine architectural specimens, you will enjoy looking at these great cultural locations while wandering around the city.

Colorado State Capitol

The Capitol building dominates the citys skyline due to the gold bell-shaped dome. Its point is located exactly 5,280 feet above sea level, perfect of the Mile High City. You can tour through the capitol and learn about the government and the history of Colorado, along with learning interesting facts about the architecture of the capitol. The building itself is worth looking at, and is built in a similar style to the nations capitol.

LoDo

LoDo is a cultural neighborhood found in the downtown area. There are several art galleries on Wazee Street that you can peruse at your leisure and maybe even bring home a piece of art. If you get hungry, you can visit one of the many restaurants and cafes in the area. There are also lovely shops to visit while you ramble around LoDo. The historical brick buildings and Union Station enhance the beauty of the neighborhood. If you love to go out at night, you will enjoy the bars and clubs in the area, especially on Market Street, located between 14th and 20th Streets.

The Berkeley District

Another neighborhood with lots of art and culture is the Berkeley District in northwest Denver. This neighborhood features art galleries, boutiques and locally owned stores instead of any chains. As you walk through the area, you will see plenty of fun shops and art galleries that can be explored. You can also enjoy some delightful food at the many restaurants in the area. If you enjoy music, you can find something to enjoy in one of the many music venues within the blocks of the district. Whether you walk around during the day or at night, there will be something for you to enjoy in this part of Denver.

Beautiful Cathedrals

Denver features many delightfully designed places of worship worth visiting simply for their architectural beauty. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception features gothic architecture, while St. Johns Cathedral offers the sounds of beautiful organs. There are plenty of other interesting sights to see, including the St. Patricks Mission Church, St. Cajetans Church, and St. Ignatius of Loyola. All of these churches are still active houses of worship as well. There are also other places to worship for all denominations and religions if you are looking for such a place.

Civic Center Cultural Complex

The Civic Center Cultural Complex includes the Public Library, the Colorado Historical Society, and the Art Museum, in addition to the civic center. Not only can you spend the day learning about history and admiring art, you will also enjoy the magnificent architecture of the buildings and landscape surrounding the area. There is also the Byers-Evans House Museum, which was owned by the printer of the first city newspaper and whose family founded the Art Museum.  You will also enjoy seeing the Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds, which features many important events in the areas history.

Denver is a beautiful city to visit filled with cultural icons.
