Kristen Leanne is a 25-year old model living in Los Angeles, California. The first things you’ll notice are her tattoos and dark-plum gradient hair color. There is more to Kristen than meets the eye though, we asked about her opinion about the modeling industry, personal and professional goals, nutritional and fitness habits, and her life in general in an exclusive interview:
Do you have a nickname or artist pseudonym? Who came up with it and how?
My fiancé calls me Flower… my mother calls me Kristy Lee… and my old co workers in Louisiana called me “Flaca Blanca” haha so I have quite a few strange nick names!
When and how did you first get involved in the modeling industry?
I’ve been involved in the modeling industry with an agency since I was 5. I took a long break between about 10-17. Then started back up again.
What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five years?
Man, I have my hand in SO many projects. It’s hard to say specific goals. My main goal is to be happy, well-traveled and own at least one successful business venture. I also have goals to own real-estate, definitely within 5 years. In five years I’ll have accomplished all of my above mentioned goals and then some.
Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.
I haven’t had too many bad experiences when it comes to modeling, because I read all contracts put in front of me and I don’t put up with any bullshit. BUT I’ve had one girl rip off my ENTIRE back piece… like almost line for line, color for color. So that was a huge bummer, since I drew my back piece and came up with the entire concept and color scheme. I supposed that just comes with the territory!
Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?
Embarrassing and funny for sure. As I’m sure you know being a model, in casting calls you get asked to do some seriously weird, off the wall shit that has no relevance to the job itself. With that being said… I was at a Harley Davidson casting call, I was told to sing ‘happy birthday’ in the most creative, strange, great etc way I could think of. So most people sang it like Marilyn Monroe, I really dislike Marilyn Monroe, so that was out of the question. I also didn’t want to do something that everyone else was doing, I had to do something OUT THERE to get them to remember me. So, I introduced myself then I turned around, faced the wall, bent over and sang happy birthday with my butt, like Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura Pet Detective. I booked the job. So I guess my strange tactics worked.
Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?
Yes. A million things, but I’ll choose one: I wish that all of these tattooed girls would STOP doing shoots for free. These days most photographers want you to shoot for free! Smaller companies want you to shoot for free too, because there’s always some broad with shitty tattoos that will shoot for free, just to get published. The industry is grossly over saturated.
Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat?
I used to play soccer for 6 years, now, I don’t do any sports although I enjoy watching basketball. I eat extremely clean and healthy, as I gym everyday and am on a strict regiment. I am a vegetarian so basically I eat veggies all day everyday!
Please tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I am a Christian and I do a lot of volunteer work with the homeless.
Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise)?
Yeah, I wish that I had more patience and less of a temper I also wish I was clairvoyant. That would rock.
