Erica Ross is a 22-year old model residing in Lancaster, California.
How would you introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Erica Ross, I’m 22 yrs old with a beautiful 1 year old daughter. I was born in Glendale California. A hobby of mine would be photography. I have an interest in all types of art and animals, I am a big animal lover. As far as professions go I have been trying to make modeling into a profession.
When, how and why did you first get involved in the modeling industry?
I don’t really remember when I got started into the modeling industry, all I can remember is my mom putting me into beauty pageants and than it end up submitting me to the top modeling agencies in Los Angele’s.
What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?
My personal goals is just to be stable and not have to struggle anymore and my professional goal is just to get my name out there, don’t really want to be famous or anything like that. I just want to be able to just make it doing what I love.
How often are you modeling and what does it usually consist of?
I am probably modeling on average about 5 days out of the month. It mostly consists of photo shoots, usually fashion and commercial. I am a big fan of print work. I will do probably one fashion show throughout the month, not really a big fan of the catwalk but I will do it if needed.
Please tell us about the best and/or worst experiences you’ve had so far in modeling.
My worst experience in modeling would happen to be doing a fashion show at the Compton Airshow. What was supposed to be a fashion show ended up being just an appearance which ended up being just taking pictures by the planes. It was really disorganized and all day my manager was just constantly yelling at me for things that was out of my control and it was just bad.
Have you had anything funny, embarrassing or completely out of the ordinary happen during your modeling career?
My embarrassing moments are usually when I am doing a fashion show, for some reason it never fails that I always trip once I get off the stage. I’m glad it’s never when I am walking down the runway but once I get off I trip and it’s always going down the stairs.
Is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could?
I wish it wasn’t so hard to get into. I know you always have to have the look for the season but what I have seen it’s always the same look. It’s really hard to find a good or rather top agency that really promotes African Americans.
Do you practice any sports and what do you typically eat? Please elaborate on the importance of nutrition and exercise in your life.
This may sound bad but I don’t work out. I probably should and will get around eventually but I don’t do it. However I do eat healthy, I recently stopped eating at fast foods so much. I would probably eat there once every two months now. I take great care in what I put in my body. I eat small portions of meals usually meat and vegetables. I am real big on pizza and chili cheese fries and now I will probably eat that once every three months. I am trying to transition to healthier lifestyle. I got the eating pretty much down, maintain my weight has never been a problem for me but now I am trying to move over to the exercise, for some reason I can’t seem to commit but I know once I get the motivation I need, I know I will never stop.
Would you change anything about yourself (physical or otherwise) if you could?
Honestly no, I have grown to love my weakness and flaws, it took me about 20 years to love myself and I am done listening to people about what they believe is the perfect body. I am what I am and I can’t change that, I wouldn’t want to change it or else it just wouldn’t be me
What is the one talent you wish you possessed?
One talent I wish to possess is the ability to sing. I sing a lot for someone who can’t sing.
