In yet another rescue performed at sea by a Holland America Line cruise ship, the MS Noordam comes to the aid of 41 tourists after a boat fire.

Like many cruise industry players, part and parcel of Holland America Line’s job is delighting its customers. But did you know the much-loved cruise line has also been involved in a string of rescue ‘missions’ this 2015? Just a few months ago in January, they were involved in three rescues at sea (“Veendam Rescues Pilot Who Ditched His Plane in the Pacific Ocean”) – of a pilot in the Pacific Ocean, of crew members on a sinking vessel in the Caribbean, and of crew members stranded in a research station on Antarctica.

This month marks another incident where a Holland America Line cruise ship came to the aid of people in need at sea. This time, the rescue is set in Alaska, on the 10th of June. 79-foot, sightseeing boat Baranof Wind experiences mechanical issues and is left partly disabled after the containment of a fire. The vessel calls for aid and Holland America’s MS Noordam, at the time in the middle of a 7-day Alaskan cruise originating from Vancouver, took in 41 of the Baranof Wind’s passengers. The rescued tourists were thereafter served lunch on board and brought back to their point of origin in Bartlett Cove. Kemplon Engineering salutes all those involved in keeping the passengers safe and well cared for.
