Some baby showers can turn out to be a little dull and sometimes even a bit awkward. It doesn’t have to be this way, there are plenty of fun activities to choose from. All you have to do is pick some that you think the mum to be and her guests will enjoy. You don’t have to do all the same games that everyone does, make your baby shower stand out and try some of the following activities and games.

1. Guess the baby food flavour

Pass round a few different flavours of baby food and get everyone to write down what they think each one is. They can do this by simply looking at it, tasting it or having a wild guess.

2. Guess the size of the belly with a length of string

Give everyone some string and ask them to cut it to the length they think would perfectly fit around the mum to be’s belly. Then test each piece of string to see who got it closest.

3. Quiz about the mother

Put together a little quiz about the mother to be and her childhood. See which of her friends and family truly knows her the best.

4. Guess everyone’s baby pictures

Ask each guest to bring a picture of themselves as a baby or toddler. Then pass them round and everyone has to guess who is in each picture.

5. Bucket list for your baby

Ask your friends and family to write down things that they think the baby should do in their lifetime. Put all the suggestions in a box and keep it for when the baby grows up.

6. Bib decorating competition

Give everyone a blank bib and get them to decorate their bibs. Awards a prize for the best one.

7. Pass the dirty diaper

This isn’t as bad as it sounds. Get a diaper and put chocolate spread on it and get everyone to pass it round to music, then when the music stops the person holding the dirty diaper gets eliminated. A bit like pass the parcel.

8. Baby balloons

This is quite a fun game where you split everyone into teams. Each team member has to blow a balloon up, tie it up and put it under their belly in turn. The first team to have all members finish winds.

9. Baby name game

Get all your guests to write down their favourite name for a boy and a girl. Then hand all the suggestions to the mum to be and she can choose her favourites. Or if she doesn’t want to give anything away she can simply keep the names for inspiration.

10. Songs containing the word baby

Play a quick game where everyone has to name as many songs as they can containing the word ‘baby’. You can also get hold of some songs and play a small snippet of each one, asking people to write down what they think the song is.

11. Complete the mummy saying

Mums have lots of common sayings that they say to their children, such as ‘mommy’s little angel’. Write the first few words of each phrase down and get everyone to complete the phrases.

12. Advice book

Have a book where all the guests can write their own personal advice in. This can be just general life advice and things they have learn’t over the years. Then the mother can keep it for their child and read it to them when they are old enough.

13. Alphabet book

Write each letter of the alphabet on a piece of paper. Then give each person a few pieces of paper and ask them to draw something for each letter. For example, A is for apple and you would have a drawing of an apple. The mother can use all these drawings to help their child learn the alphabet.

14. Wishes for the baby

Everyone has to write one wish each for the baby.

15. Guess the d.o.b, weight and time

Challenge your guests to predict the correct date, time, and weight of the newborn baby when it comes along. Get everyone to write their predictions down on a piece of paper with their name on it.

16. Blindfolded diaper changing

Have some dolls hand and some diapers, blindfold your guests and see if they can change a diaper blindfolded.

17. List baby products

See how many baby products your guests can name, for example a dummy, a high chair, a cot etc.

18. Name the baby animal

Have pictures of lots of different animals with their babies and get guests to write down the correct name for the baby animals. For example, lamb, puppy, piglet.

19. Guess how many sweets

Have a couple of jars of sweets and get guests to guess how many sweets there are in them. The person who get closest wins the jar.

20. Guess the celebrity child

Bring pictures of celebrity kids and see how many your guests can name.

21. Most popular baby names

You can find out what the most popular baby names were for the past few years. See if anyone can correctly guess the most popular baby name for each year.
