The heat of the summer is upon us and school is only a few weeks away. Here are some outdoor ways to beat the heat and have fun with the family before the school hustle begins.

BARTON SPRINGS POOLLocated at Zilker Park, Barton Springs Pool is fed from underground springs and is on average 68 degrees year round. This popular hotspot attracts a diverse group of people and considered one of the jewels of Austin.

DEEP EDDY POOLThe historic Deep Eddy pool is the oldest swimming pool in Texas, dating back to 1915.  Deep Eddy is a freshwater pool, the water is cleaned out and replaced with fresh well water every day on alternating sides of the pool.

HAMILTON POOL RESERVEHamilton Pool Reserve is a historic swimming hole that is considered one of the best natural swimming spots in Texas.  The preserve's pool and grotto were formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago.

KAYAKING / CANOEING / ROWING AT LADY BIRD LAKE (TOWN LAKE)Experience the pristine water and spectaclar views of Downtown Austin by rowing, kayaking, canoing or paddle baording on Lady Bird Lake (formerly Town Lake).  There are a variety of watercraft / boat rentals available around the lake or you can bring your own. 

BARTON CREEK GREENBELTThe Barton Creek Greenbelt is over 7 miles long and 809 acres of cliff walls, lush vegetation and swimming holes. 

SHORE CLUB VOLENTE BEACH WATER PARKThe Shore Club Volente Beach Water Park is located on Lake Travis and has a pools, water rides, sandy beachfront, restaurant and volleyball courts.  Boat and waverunner rentals are also available.
