PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The LeMont restaurant on Mount Washington has reopened following a landslide earlier this week.
On Tuesday morning, rocks, mud and trees tumbled down the side of the hill.
Since that day, engineers for the City of Pittsburgh and Norfolk Southern Railroad have been nervously watching.
“We have not seen any additional movement since the day of the slide, so we continue looking at it,” said Pittsburgh Operations Director Guy Costa.
After the slide, the city ordered The LeMont to close as a precaution because its hillside supports were very close to the slide area.
“We haven’t really seen any indication of any movement up by The LeMont restaurant at this time,” said Costa.
So, on Friday afternoon, the city gave The LeMont the green light to reopen.
Meanwhile, the studying of the hillside is far from over.
Costa says the city’s has now hired “additional engineers to really, really look at that hillside in the next couple weeks.”
