PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — As Pitt’s football season opener nears, ACC Network announcer Wes Durham joined Troy Clardy on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan to preview the season ahead.

Durham has followed the ACC for decades, and knows what awaits the Panthers in their new conference.

“The one thing I think that Pittsburgh fans are going to find out is that the competitive level of football in this league is getting better and better every year,” he says. “I think Pittsburgh brings as good a football tradition as this league has. Florida State on Labor Day night is a huge, huge stage for Pittsburgh to showcase not only its program and its tradition, but also its enthusiasm about being in the ACC. It’s a pretty critical moment for the program.”

The Panthers have some question marks as the season begins, but Durham sees plenty of positives for Pitt.

“When you bring back multiple guys on the offensive and defensive lines, I think you give yourself an opportunity to be successful early on,” he said. “I’m a big Devin Street guy. In doing the Atlanta Falcons for the last nine years on radio, I know there are a lot of people on the next level who think a lot of Devin Street.”

Durham also looks at what to expect from the Florida State Seminoles, previews both divisions and looks at where the ACC fits among the other BCS conferences.
