Holidays have officially started for Kaplan Business School students. In case you were wondering how to spend your time unwinding, here is a list you might find helpful:

The Wheel of Brisbane – South Bank

Enjoy the amazing views that our fabulous city has to offer for less than $15 (students price). You can even score yourself a ride at sunset for an even better session. Packages are also available for those of you that would like to share the experience with your family or significant other.

The Winter Festival – Brisbane City

Are you a fan of ice-skating? This is just for you. Book your tickets online to be sure to secure your spot on the rink. After all, you CAN live in the Sunshine State and still enjoy ice-skating outdoors.

City Botanic Gardens – Brisbane City

Work in the city but you are after a picnic on the grass or just a relaxing sunbathing session before or after your shift? Head to the City Botanic Gardens! Guided Tours done by volunteers are also available.

Roma Street Parklands – Brisbane City

Just like the City Botanic Gardens, Roma Street Parkland is a peace haven in the middle of all the city rumbles; except that is has a flora that could nearly make the Netherlands jealous (everything is a matter of perception, of course).

Art Gallery Crawl – Fortitude Valley

The Valley does not only have an exuberant amount of pubs and clubs but also amazing art galleries like the Institute of Modern Art. Go for an art gallery crawl and finish in one of the multiple cafés/restaurant location around Fortitude Valley for a well deserved afternoon tea.

Jan Van Dijk – Spring Hill

The Sugar Damn Electric Art Exhibition is now showing until the 23rd of July at Spiro Grace Art Rooms. This free exhibition features pieces that reflect the scenery of New Orleans with glazing designs and clashing colours.

Cindy Sherman – QAGOMA South Bank

Bring for friends to Cindy Sherman Up Late Fridays on the 1st of July for $12 each (concession) and enjoy the pop-up bars, sounds from a line-up of local, national and international all-female musicians in GOMA or check out the exhibition of photographs captured by the renowned chameleon.

Brisbane Powerhouse – New Farm

Enjoy some cool tunes on Sunday afternoons in the crisp but still enjoyable Brisbane winter.

Friday Night Laneways – Lumen body – July 1st.

Lumen Body explores a groundbreaking collaboration between three exquisite emerging artists with the support of Queensland’s premier contemporary dance company.

Fearless by Jess Cochrane until the 24th of July

This is an exhibition featuring expressionism painting and portrait photography. The Brisbane Powerhouse offers a multitude of free events that fit students’ budgets, as well paid events.

Strike Bowling – Brisbane City

What do you call a place that gives a free game of laser tag or bowling when you purchase food or drinks of $6 minimum on Monday nights? Nothing. You just go and enjoy!

Strike now has Exitus, where your team of 2-6 players is trapped in a room and you have 50 minutes to find your way out with the help of hints hidden in the room.

Putt Putt – Herston

Date night or just night out with friends? Go for a night of fun with mini golf at the Victoria Park Golf for just $16 each (concession).

They now New Trivia Night at the Bar & Bistro on Thursdays from 7pm. There are prizes to be won during the night and the winner gets a $50 Bar & Bistro Voucher. Now everyone that knows students knows we like winning vouchers so gather a couple of your smartest friends and may the best win!

Sunday Sessions on the Green – South Bank

Enjoy live music and lawn games as you relax at River Quay Green to the sound of various local bands and artists.

Lifeline Bookfest Brisbane – South Bank

You have until the 3rd of July to make your way to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre to sort through 4kms of tables filled with books, magazines, records, board games, vinyls and DVDs for as low as $1! The money will be used for charity so you can even feel good for overspending.

Young Writers’ Bootcamp – South Bank

If you are an avid writer and would like to perfect your skills, this bootcamp is just for you! The bootcamp will run on July 2nd from 10:30am for $75. We swear; no burpees will be involved in this one.

Rocksports – Fortitude Valley

For all you adrenaline junkies out there, this activity might be for you. You can go wall climbing at Rocksports just about a 100m from Kaplan Business School. No experience? No problem. Even first timers are welcome to have a try at the adrenaline pumping activity.

Skyzone – Macgregor

Up for some bouncy fun? Head to Skyzone for one hour of jump time and a laser tag game for $23 (If you bring your own socks).

Colombian Independence Day Festival – Fortitude Valley

Whether you are Colombian or not, you will probably have a blast at this festival! Get your tickets online now. There will be more than 12 hours of fun and entertainment with traditional Colombian food, food stands, artists and DJs performing during the festival. This event will be on July 16th from 11:30am. Save the date!
