Journeyman Electrician - Airfield Lighting

Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Foreman or General Foreman. Must demonstrate thorough understanding of NFPA 70 – National Electric Code (NEC), or the British Standard 7671, or other internationally recognized electrical regulations and standards as approved by KBR. Must be fluent with proper installation techniques and display highest level of workmanship. Responsible for supervising crews made up of diverse subcontract and direct hired employees in proper installations, standards, and workmanship. Certification as Journeyman Electrician or equivalent required.

An Airport Maintenance Electrician is responsible for preforming a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance of the airfield and adjacent buildings. Incumbent has primary responsibilities for working with high-voltage electrical systems (up to 5,000 volts) with no margin of error. Works with high voltage lines, changes out electrical equipment for runways, taxiways and threshold lighting. Maintains specialized airport lighting (PAPI, REIL, etc.) and beacon navigational aids, changes out electrical relays points, and circuit boards: utilizes test equipment and checks to see that navigational aids are in proper angle. Replaces burnt wiring, circuit breakers, switches, fuses and brushes. Rebuild or replace damaged and outdated light fixtures for taxiway and runway. Preforms electrical safety inspections in hangers and repair or replace receptacles and light switches, test voltage and amps to comply with appropriate codes. Knowledgeable of AC theory, motors, starters, transformers, residual current devices, and overcurrent protective devices. Understands the safe operation and applications of instruments provided for circuit analysis and testing, including power analyzers, ground rod resistance meters, ground fault loop impedance testers, residual current device testers, and similar test equipment standard in the trade. Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics, instructions, and other technical documentation. Maintains repairs, replaces or installs a broad range of electrical equipment in support of base construction and maintenance activities. Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties and activities as directed. Documented trade experience and training.

Airfield lighting experience required

Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining

Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
