Question / Issue

How do I configure my RDTg w/ Keypad (v7)?

Answer / Solution

There are two primary ways to configure an RDTg, with a Static IP and using DHCP.

Connect the RDTg

There is a lock on the top of the terminal. Using the key that is provided, unlock the terminal

NOTE! The key will remain in the terminal when it’s unlocked so do not try to remove it.

Open the face of the terminal – it opens from the top

Feed an Ethernet cable through the back of the terminal and connect it to the Ethernet port on the board

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the network

Plug in the power supply, feed its cable through the back of the terminal, and connect it to the Power Input port on the board

Close the face of the terminal

These next steps will depend on your network. Some networks will assign an IP address to the clock (Dynamic) or the IP address can be set manually (Static).

Hop to Static

Configure for DHCP

After it boots up, the first screen that appears is Company Selection (the bar at the top will be red).

For these steps, use the Tab key to move between buttons.

On a computer, go to the Clock Status page

Without SSL – http://[server]/app/terminals

With SSL – https://[server]/app/terminals

Log into Clock Status

Click Add

Select Series 300/400 and click Next

Select Upload clock connection settings via USB and click Next

Ensure that the scheme, server, and port are correct

Enter a Device Name and click Next

If a wireless adapter is connected to the clock, click on the Wifi Settings branch:

Choose the type

Enter the SSID

Enter the passcode

Click Download and save the file to a memory stick

On the RDTg, click on Device at the bottom of the screen

Click Load from USB, connect the memory stick, and click OK

With the saved configuration highlighted, click Select, and OK when successful

The Company Selection will re-appear (the bar at the top should turn blue)

Wait for several seconds, but if the bar remains red, click Device, and either:

Replace the server name with the server’s IP address OR

Add a domain name to the end of the server name.

If you have not already done so log into TimeClock Manager and create a user

This user should have a Clock Edit Hours password.

In case more permissions are added later, add a System Access password.

This user should have access to Manage Terminals (under the Clocks branch).

On the terminal’s Company Selection screen, with the company highlighted, click Configure

Click Yes to log in and register the terminal

Enter the user’s Edit Hours password and click Enter

The terminal was successfully registered. Click Ok

Click Set as Default Company and click Yes

Click OK to confirm and Exit
