So you know that it’s important to build your list before your e-Course launch and you have a couple of opt-ins and more on the way. But with a number of opt-ins and several sign-up forms, your opt-ins are looking for a permanent home. Welcome: a resources page for list building!

A resources page is a permanent page on your website that houses your super helpful opt-ins as well as any other resources that you love and recommend.

WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE A RESOURCES PAGE FOR LIST BUILDING

Resources pages are popular because they clearly offer value to your readers. With high click through rates, resources pages are a one-stop shop for all your incredible freebies and are a great place for new readers to pop on over and get access to your free resources without scouring every page of your website. I believe it’s for these reasons that I get a high number of opt-ins on my resources page.

New readers love free stuff so if you can get them to this page then they’re going to have a field day. Resources pages help to identify your area of expertise and build an interested and engaged list. It’s also a great page to display all your opt-ins (something that you can’t do on other pages without confusing your audience). This means you can appeal to a wider range of people with different interests and preferences. For example, some readers might prefer a PDF checklist to a video series. Your resources page gives both options!

HOW TO USE YOUR RESOURCES PAGE FOR LIST BUILDING

1. Add different opt-ins

As you know, readers might have different interests and preferences so your resources page is the place to add all of your opt-ins and give a variety of options. In doing this, you can also gauge your readers preferences by seeing which opt-ins are more popular when all displayed on the one page. Use this information to decide how to display your opt-ins as you want your most popular opt-in top of page.

2. Showcase affiliate products and programs

You know all of those affiliate links that you have saved in a document somewhere? Your resources page is the perfect place to showcase them (and make some money in the process). I earn money from clicks on this page every month plus I get to support some of my favourite entrepreneurs in the process.

3. Share your best blog posts

If your resources page is one of the most popular pages on your website then you want to encourage readers to move around your site. Linking to your most popular blog posts is a great way to entice people to other pages of your site, continuing to build trust and showcasing your expertise.

4. Support your friends and business partners

Similar to affiliate links, you can also use this page to shout out your friends and business partners (while recommending their products and services too).

EXAMPLES OF GREAT RESOURCES PAGES

If you’re ready to get started working on your resources page and are looking for some inspiration then these examples will blow your mind!

1. In Spaces Between

Rachel from In Spaces Between has a gorgeous resources page titled ‘Things I Love’. She uses this page to share her own free resources plus share products that she supports and people she adores.

She even has a section dedicated to “resources, recommendations, digi-support and essential tools” (a great place to share affiliate links).

2. Sora Surya No

Sora Surya No shares her resources in a page titled ‘Shop’. The first section on this page is dedicated to her free resources and then she dives into a section called ‘Sacred Sisters’ where she links to a number of recommendations, categorised into industry and topic.

3. Nisha Moodley

Nisha Moodley does something similar with her ‘Shop’ page where she shares her free resources and links to other resources she loves. Transparency is key when using affiliate links and I like the way Nisha brings up this topic – “Some of these are affiliate links. I would never recommend anything I didn’t wholeheartedly believe in. That being said, please choose what you feel is best for you, as only you know best. Enjoy.”

4. She Takes On The World

Natalie McNeill’s use of her ‘Resources’ page is a little different to the pages above and a great example of how you can mix free and paid products in together. Natalie includes her freebies at the top of the page and asks readers to ‘pay with a post/tweet’. This means that readers have to share the resource on social media before they get access. Genius!

She follows this up with a link to her Resource List (with a tonne of tools and links) and the option to purchase her paid products.

So that’s it – now you know why you should have a resources page, how to use it and some examples of resources pages that are killing it. What are you waiting for? It’s time to build your resources page in time for your next e-Course launch!
