If I try to think of people I know that are good at gifts, Shirlina Deans comes to mind immediately. (Her, and my mom). I first met Shirl in New York a few years ago with Lani (they’ve been friends for ages), and since then we’ve all kept in touch. We play tennis together most weeks, even. But enough about my social life. What I’m trying to say is that Shirl is cool and she is into cute, crafty things and I thought she would be a great person to ask for this series of blog posts leading up to Christmas, so here we go:
1. Gift for a colleague that you only see at work and don’t know that well.

2. Gift for secret santa $20 limit
When in doubt go with a bunch of scratchies and a box of scorched almonds.
3. Gift for someone overseas (i.e. can be shipped directly from an online store or shipped from NZ easily)

4. Gift that involves making something yourself.
A mixtape! So easy and you can personalise it to the receiver. Or make up a batch of chocolate or these delicious snow balls and pop them in a little box with a ribbon.
5. What’s one of the best gifts you’ve ever received?
I’m a huge Studio Ghibli fan so the bf gave me this awesome artbook of Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ last year, mine was a limited edition which came with the film and a Totoro figurine. I also love receiving massage vouchers for Bliss Reflexology, their foot massages are THE BEST.
6. Great gift to buy for purchaser who has left it to the last minute (i.e. the day prior to Christmas).
Can’t go wrong with a voucher for their favourite store or restaurant. Most vouchers these days can be bought online and emailed too, very handy.
