A militant commander has been killed in an on-going gunfight between government forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, official sources said.
The encounter is going on Hoshangpora locality of Imam Sahab.
The slain militant has been identified as Abid Reshi hailing from Alishapora Frisal who according to sources, was district commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Sources told Kashmir Dispatch that the gun-battle raged after militants fired upon a patrol party of army and Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) in Imam Sahab, Shopian.
The shootout resulted in injuries to two SOG personals. However, officials didn’t confirm it.
