If there is anything Nigeria has an abundance of, it’s funny people. Nollywood increased production as a result of the demand for less scary movies and more relaxing and laughter-inducing films.

This is a list of 9 of Nollywood’s funniest actors who are still thrilling their fans through bouts of laughter.

1. Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme aka Aki and Paw-paw

They got the name Aki and Paw-paw from a comedy movie ‘Aki and Paw Paw’. These two hilarious actors always act movies together, just in some rare cases that they act separate movies. Movies they have acted include ‘Spanner’, ‘The Johnsons’, ‘Magic Cap’, ‘Jack and Jill’. ‘One Good Turn’, ‘Baby Police’, ‘Mirror Boy’, ‘The Johnsons’ amongst others.

2. Funke Akindele aka Jenifa

From her ‘Jenifa’ days, the AMVCA award- winning actress has remained one of the most entertaining female comedy actresses to watch.

4. John Okafor aka Mr Ibu

John is most popular for the movie ‘Mr Ibu’ which earned him the name ‘Mr Ibu’. Mr Ibu is popular for films such as ‘Sherikoko’, ‘Limpopo Master’, ‘Sweet Mama’, the ‘Mr Ibu’ movies, amongst many other interesting movies. He’s happily married to the mother of his kids.

5. Bishop Imeh Umoh aka Okon

The Akwa Ibom born actor is popular for his funny on-screen voice. The actor earned the name ‘Okon’ from his movie ‘Okon goes to School’.

Bishop has also featured in movies like ‘In the Cupboard’, ‘Jump and Pass’, ‘Okon in Lagos’ amongst many others. He is married to Idara Saviour.

6. Hafiz Oyetoro aka Saka

Hafiz Oyetoro a.k.a Saka is one actor popularly known for comedy. He played in the much celebrated TV comedy soap, House Apart, and others. He is on a N20 million per annum contract with telecoms giant, MTN and he was contracted for 5 years.

7. Folarin Falana aka ‘Falz Da Bahd Guy’

Falz who is the son of Femi Falana, a highly respected lawyer and activist in Nigeria, hit fame when his ‘Ello Bae’ skits appeared on Instagram. Although he says he’s not a comedian, there’s no shortage of laughter when he’s doing his thing. The confirmed barrister and musician/rapper is currently Funke Akindele’s co-star on ‘Jenifa’s Diaries’.

8. Chioma Omeruah aka Chigurl

Chigul is now a successful comedian and compere, best known for her ‘razz’ videos and many accents; French, Hausa, Spanish, Igbo & the very English accent.

9. Francis Odega aka ‘Gerrarahia’
After being in the entertainment industry for about 20 years, he finally hit big with the ‘Gerrarahia’ meme which went viral on social media and secured him endorsement deals with telecoms giant, Etisalat. Francis who was once a radio host with fellow comedian Okey Bakassi on a show that didn’t gain traction, became an Etisalat ambassador and featured in rapper M.I’s video for the song Bullion Van. the phrase that has everyone talking now wasn’t in the script.
