President Buhari Returns To Nigeria:
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday March 10 returned to the country after 49 days on a medical leave. He arrived Kaduna airport at about 7.41 a.m.
He was received by the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state Bala Bantex.
The President left the country on January 19, 2017 for a vacation, during which he had routine medical check-ups. The holiday was extended based on doctors’ recommendation for further tests and rest.
Meanwhile he has asked Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo,to continue in acting capacity,while he keeps resting.
2. Ex-Governor Jailed For Corruption:
A Yola High Court on Monday sentenced a former Governor of Adamawa State, James Bala Ngilari, to five years in prison without the option of fine.
He was found guilty of the corruption charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
3. FG Officially Closes Abuja Airport:
The Federal Government of Nigeria officially closed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. this is to enable repairs on its runway.
The closure according to the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, will last for six months.
The Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said the federal government was in talks with other international carriers, especially Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, to rescind their decisions of shunning Kaduna since its facilities meet international and global best standards.
4. Walter Onnoghen Sworn In As Chief Justice Of Nigeria:
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo sworn in a new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN). This becomes Nigeria’s 16th CJN according to records from supreme court.gov.ng. The swearing in was done Tuesday morning at a ceremony where Walter Samuel Nnkanu Onnoghen was also decorated with Nigeria’s second-highest national honour of the Grand Commander of Order of the Niger (GCON).
Justice Onnoghen’s nomination was last week confirmed by the Senate.
5. Man Who Sat On Tor Tiv’s Throne Jailed For 4 Years:
A 30-year-old man, Stephen Nyitse, who sat on the Tor Tiv’s throne shortly before the new king was installed on Saturday March 4, in Gboko, Benue State, has been jailed for four years.
Mr. Nyitse was handed the sentence on Monday after being convicted by a Chief Magistrate Court presided over in Gboko by P. S Chaha Esq.
6. APO “6-KILLINGS”: Court Sentences Police Officers To Death:
A High Court sitting in Abuja, sentenced two Police officers, to death over the killing of 6 at the Apo mechanic village in Abuja on June 8, 2005.
The victims, Ifeanyi Ozo, Chinedu Meniru, Isaac Ekene, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony Nwokike and Tina Arebun, aged between 21 to 25 years, were motor spare parts dealers.
The victims were allegedly shot dead by a team of Police men stationed at Gimbiya Street at Garki Area 11 while returning from a night club on the order of a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Danjuma.
7. PDP Crisis:
The Peoples Democratic Party caucus in the Senate rejected an invitation by the party chairman, Ali Mohdu Sherrif, and said it would instead support broad consultation to resolve the leadership crisis in the party.
Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed this to journalists, after the opposition lawmakers met at the National Assembly On Wednesday.
Mr. Akpabio said Mr. Sherrif extended invitation to the caucus on March 6, but added that the request would not be honoured because doing so meant “sectionalism”.
8. International Women’s Day Celebration:
On the momentous International Women’s Day, when everyone stops to celebrate women all over the world, the Wanda Adu Foundation (WAF) recognised the contributions of women from all timelines and walks of life and their contributions to the universal growth and empowerment of women globally.

9. Horror In Lagos! How 3 Children, GrandMother Were Murdered:
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, on Wednesday, March 1 confirmed the killing of three children and their mother in an uncompleted church building at Agbowa, near Ikorodu.
Mr. Owoseni said that the police was called to the murder scene at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
“The incident happened at about 3 a.m. this morning at Agbowa in Ikorodu.
“The three murdered children were aged four, five and nine.
“The mother of the children was also wounded and later died in the hospital,” Mr. Owoseni said.
