Brazil’s SoaRaimundo Football Club, who is the current champions of the State of Roraima in the Portuguese-speaking nation, will be coming to Guyana for an April 5 showdown against the Slingerz Football Club at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground.

This is according to C&R Promotions, who issued a press release this week, stating

that a press conference will be held soon to further update on full details pertaining to the Brazilian club tour to Guyana for the showpiece football game.

“With World Cup football being hosted in Brazil this year, the President of the Brazilian Club, Sergio Carvalho has guaranteed the Guyanese football fan base a showing that will prove why Brazil is considered the best football nation,” the release said.

Slingerz, who recently participated in the Vision Group Inter-Club Tournament, will hope to continue its ascendancy with the addition of a few overseas players. The release said the club was chosen for the encounter based on their performance in Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Banks Beer Cup, which they won on January 1.

“With the prize money set to be a hefty pay day for the teams, intense competition is expected during the friendly showing,” the release continued. Meanwhile, Western Tigers Football Club will battle Santos Football Club in a pre-game match-up.
