No, let’s look at it the other way round.
You’re afraid, Google might just pull the plug on your website one day for some silly reasons and your 5+ year online business just evaporate into the sky within a twinkle of an eye……..we’ve seen this happen many times.
All these points are valid, you’re absolutely right in thinking this way.
But you still need to know the truth about getting returns on investment on website traffic; the most rewarding of all web traffic is organic search engines traffic.
And that Google leads the pack when it comes to search engines market share.
As of January 2016, Google search engine market share amount to a total of 88.36% according to Statista. Leaving the rest search engines outfits to battle with just 11.64%.
First, I’ll advice you don’t throw everything about organic search engine traffic into the bin, because trust me, time will come, you’ll need a large percentage of your website traffic to come from search engines users.
People who find your contents by performing search queries related to your blog topics.

The good news is that when you do other content marketing channels well (especially social and outreach), your SEO traffic might as well improve as a result of people talking and sharing your content massively.
Regardless, let’s look at how you can drive or increase website traffic without SEO stuff involved.

With so many online advertising media company coming up on the Internet, is becoming increasingly easier to get in front of thousands of targeted audience with little investment as the case with Facebook advertising.
Now with as little as $10, you can reach dozens of users online if your ads are well targeted and set up properly.
Not only Facebook, there other relatively low-cost effective advertising media house you can tap into right away that at best, can deliver a surge of quality paid targeted traffic to any industry blog or businesses.
Let’s look at one other viable option you can tap into at the moments.
# Bidvertiser PPC Advertising.
Bidvertiser is among the powerhouse of Internet contextual advertising companies. They’ve been around since 2003 and have been serving contextual advertising since then.
Bidvertiser contextual advertising system works on “on-site bid per click” basis. This mean as an advertiser, your cost per click will depend on the quality of the publisher sites your ads is displayed.
And you can decide what categories of websites you want your ads to display on.
Bidvertiser cost per clicks is relatively low when compared to other advertising media house like the Google Adwords though the result you get too can’t match that of Google Adwords, but still an effective contextual advertising house.
Plus you get $20 in advertising clicks when you sign up as an advertiser with Bidvertiser. If you’re a small business owner with a limited budget, this can be a good way to get started with driving country/keyword targeted website traffic.
#2. Social Top The List.
This is too obvious?
Yes, you should’ve known social media marketing will probably come up on the list.
Social media marketing as of today as become an integral part of our business activities. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re driving organic search engines traffic or not, social media marketing must be part of your content marketing mix.
I’m not going to tell you here which social media platform should your business establish its presence, but if you’re like most businesses, Facebook and Twitter seems to be default settings these days.
But even at that, don’t just assume “my business needs its Facebook presence”.
According to a study published by VentureBeat in 2014, surprisingly Facebook is the 5th social media sites that drive “engage traffic” to websites.
Youtube is the best of them all with Google+, LinkedIn and Twitter occupying second, third and fourth positions respectively.
At first, especially when you’re just starting out and need to discover exactly where your ideal audience gathered the most, you’ll need to test most of the major social gathering places out and see where your content fits in the best.
Keep an eye on your Google analytics to measure where you’re getting the best of results. Don’t confuse traffic volume with engagement. Undoubtedly, Facebook drives the most social media traffic today but when it comes to measuring engagement, it lacks behind.
But here is one thing you should be careful about, don’t spread yourself too wide that you get nothing out of your social media marketing.
Quickly discover what works best for your blog type, stick with it and throw away the trash.
#3. Perfect Your Content Headline.
Headline – you must have read a ton of articles about the need to perfect your content headline, yet, you seems not to pay any if at all little attention to it.
More often, a great article headline is the difference between a content that falls flat on its face and a winning article. Sure, the headline is not the only determinant factor that guarantees an article success, but it is the first element in your content that your potential blog readers see first.
It is an establish fact that out of every 100 potential readers that come in contact with your content, 80 out this figures will only read the headline and just 20 might consider reading the rest of the information.
No matter where your content is shared online, the first thing people see is the title and if this title doesn’t appeal to the reader, that content doesn’t exist as far as that reader is concerned
You too can master the art of writing irresistible article headline by following some of the below-listed guidelines:
#. Use numbers.
Since about 50% of your content success depend on the effectiveness of its headline, you’ll need to pay careful attention towards perfecting your headline formula.
According to a study done by BuzzSumo from analyzing 100 million articles shows that number present in an article headline is one of the top most reason why content go viral.
What’s more important to know is that odd numbers perform better than even numbers. But on the average, the figure “10” prove to be the ultimate winner.
#. Make a Promise and deliver.
The best headline will promise one specific benefit from reading the content. If at a glance, the reader can’t figure out from reading your content headline what is in it for him – be ready, a sound of cricket is coming.
No one will read your content.
Put yourself in your reader’s shoe, and look at your content headline from that perspective, then ask yourself, “what benefits do I get from reading this content?
If the answer didn’t jump out from the page stand bold in your face, then you need to tweak your article title around a bit.
But don’t go too crystal clear on your headline information, leave room for……
#. Curiosity.
Yes, you need to be specific with your headline but don’t forget to arouse curiosity too. It is the infinite power behind a great headline that makes people just want to read the rest of the information.
If you gave everything away in your headline, your readers might have no reason to read the body content because everything they need to know as been spelled out in the headline.
Take for instance, “Facebook Users spend on average 3:45 seconds on the website, Mark Says”
Depending on who, I might have no other reason to read through the rest of the content. You already tell me all that is to know about the information.
Infuse some element of suspense, trigger curiosity and you will win over that reader. A better way to write that headline will be,
“Why Users spend 3:45 seconds on Facebook : a data backed Study”.
People will want to see what data, facts and studies you’ve got for them, they want to know why people spend such amount of time on the website.
Your next big task is to make sure you deliver on that headline promise, “backed your claims with data”.
#. Word Count Matters.
According to a study, article titles with eight words in it receive 21% more click-through rate than the average headline. Part of the reason for this is because, at eight words combined, your content headline can be well descriptive and drive home your point.
The search engines have no problem showing all words in your headline in organic search result pages, but when you go over 10 words there is this possibility that the end parts of your content headline might get truncated.
And this might have a negative impact on your organic search listing click through rate.
If you’re on WordPress, use the Yoast SEO plugin search snippet function to preview exactly how your search listing will look on Google search engine result page before hitting the publish button.
#5. Sporadic Guest Blogging.
Like I said in my last post entry here, guest blogging, as we’ve read many case studies about marketers leveraging its power to build a thriving online business, you won’t benefit much from it if you’re not consistent and strategic in your approach to it.
And if you’re to use guest blogging to grow your blog traffic without SEO tactics in mind, then a lot of planning need to go before execution. So you don’t waste your energy, time and limited available resources on the website that won’t deliver the kind of results you had hoped for.
And if done right, guest blogging is a double edge sword that will not only provide you with quality targeted exposure and traffic but will also improve your backlinks profile which is better for your search engine visibility.
We’ve read so much about the Nigerian freelance writer Bamidele Onibalusi who wrote and submitted 31 guest posts in one week. That’s a great achievement going by any standard though he did that before the Google panda updates that put a check on low-quality content.
That’s a good example of what I mean by “sporadic guest blogging” campaign. But in your case, especially in the post-Google panda updates, attempting to write 31 articles in one week will definitely lead to submitting mediocre contents for a guest post.
Don’t even consider that if the quality is what matters most to you, am just citing that case study of 31 guest post in one week as a motivation to inspire you in doing the needful.
And to prove that you too can do better than you currently think you can.
But be careful, you don’t want to start submitting 10 guest post a week, that might send a red signal to Google. Make it natural, 2 quality in depth articles are good enough per week for a guest post.
I wrote about guest blogging for growing a blog in this post here, read more on that later.
#6. Write Shareable Content.
Not all content has the firepower to move readers into sharing mode, some content no matter how useful they’re, won’t attract share like-an audience.
Controversial post that kicks against a conventional theory in your industry, or when you paint a beautiful picture in the mind of your readers with your content, these types of articles easily attract a share-like audience.
A lot of theories, tools, and even case studies are published regularly online that when you look at them from a different angle or run some search on them, you’ll find a reason to kick against some of its principles or teachings.
If you can stand on your toes and tell it in the face that something ain’t right about it, your argument might go viral and attract thousands of shares.
The only thing to be watchful of here is that your arguments are backed up by very strong evidence and data. Your mere opinion doesn’t really count here.
Here is data backed post put together by Buffer on how to create shareable content.
#7. Blog Design Matters.
Web sites that incorporate awesome blog design stands the best of the chance to attract and win the trust of potential paying customers and readers, get more pageview and consequently reduces bounce rate.
Spending a few dollar on your blog design isn’t a bad idea or investment. In fact, site design navigation is one of the reasons many customers reportedly distrust an e-commerce site. A total of 25% says website navigation is one of the reasons they abandoned their shopping cart.
What get confused is what a great blog design is and what’s not.
Is not about the color or how beautiful your blog design, is about giving your user the best of experience while browsing through your web pages.
A good rule of thumb is to keep it clutter-free, and avoid using a drop-down menu in your navigation bar – not many of your site users are aware of small things like this.
What can you say about this website?
Source.
Terrible! Just terrible!
I bet if you’ll ever return to this site after your first visit. You probably want your visitors to return to your website whenever they need something related to your blog topic?
So give them the best of experience while using your site.
Conclusion…
If you take care of certain small things on your website, the bigger things will start to happen that will improve your overall search engine visibility that will improve ranking.
You can actually drive website traffic without SEO, though like I said earlier in this post, organic search engine traffic is king of them all when it comes to targeted traffic that converts.
So don’t neglect it, by all means you’re going to need it.
