Q: Which version of Train Simulator 2013 is this product compatible with?

A: It depends on which version of Train Simulator 2013 you have. If you If you were an existing owner of Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 on or before the 20th September 2012 then the product is compatible. However if you did not own Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 before that date and you have now purchased it then some Just Trains products are not compatible with it. It is fairly safe to say that all routes and scenario packs are NOT compatible, but that engines/locomotives and rolling stock ARE or will be shortly. We are updating the engines/locomotives and rolling stock to be fully compatible.

Q: Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 was updated by the developers on the 20th September 2012. How does this affect me?

A: If you were an existing owner of Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 then the answer is not much, but you will see some core program improvements.

Q: When will Just Trains products be compatible with Train Simulator 2013?

A: We are working on this now and the first items to be updated will be engines and rolling stock. Routes are a different matter and may not be able to be updated for owners of Train Simulator 2013 brought after 20th September due to the removal of certain core assets by Rail Simulator com (but see next Q and A below). For owners of Train Simulator 2013 brought before 20th September this is not an issue. Quick Drive for route is unable to be updated due to files being encrypted by RailSimulator.com.

Q: How do I make your routes compatible with Train Simulator 2013 if I only brought Train Simulator 2013 on or after September 20th for the first time?

A: It depends on the particular route and whether the route employs the default Train Simulator 2013 European or USA core objects. Rail Simulator.com removed these core assets from Train Simulator 2013 if you bought it on or after 20th September 2012, however they have made them available to purchase from their STEAM shop in two packs. If you purchase and install these packs then our routes should operate with no or minimal issues but this is in no way guaranteed by Just Trains and we accept no liability if they do not function correctly. We are currently unable to tell you which of our routes use which of (or both of) these asset packs, so the safest way is to purchase and install both of them. It’s fair to say that if you have a European-based route it is more likely to only use the European Community Asset Pack rather than the US Community Asset Pack, but this is not assured. The same applies to the US-based routes, in that they are likely to only use the US Community Asset pack. To locate and purchase the Asset Packs search the STEAM shop for 'US Community Asset Pack' and 'European Community Asset pack'.

NOTE! If you have or have purchased the following routes from STEAM since the 20th September then we are told that the required asset pack is included. This probably means that you will not need to purchase the appropriate asset pack to allow a particular Just Trains route to operate. This is not guaranteed but worth checking before purchasing either of the asset packs.

The routes when purchased from STEAM that supposedly include the European Community Asset Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208300/) are:

Bristol to Exeter when purchased from STEAM, Class 111 DMU Pack, Cologne-Dusseldorf, Colton and Northern, Doncaster Works, East Coast Main Line, Edinburgh - Glasgow, Falmouth Branch, Fort Kent to Eagle Lake, GARL, Great Western Main Line, Hatchet Hill Quarry, Ohio Steel 2, Portland Terminal, Portsmouth Direct Line, Rascal and Cottonwood, Ruhr-Sieg, Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, West Coast Mainline North, Woodhead Line.

The routes when purchased from STEAM that supposedly include the US Community Asset Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/208306/) are:

Bristol to Exeter, Cajon Pass, Cologne Dusseldorf, Colton and Northern, Fort Kent to Eagle Lake, Northeast Corridor, Ohio Steel 2, Portland Terminal, Portsmouth Direct Line, Rascal and Cottonwood, West Coast Mainline North.

Q. In Train Simulator 2013 where do I find the add-ons that I have bought from Just Trains?

A. Train Simulator 2013 will load up on the 'Collection screen'. This only shows add-ons purchased from Steam. To locate your Just Trains purchased add-ons do this:

Press the "Main menu" button on the Collection screen.

On the main menu screen press the "Single player" button.

On this screen press the "Standard scenarios" button.

All the installed scenarios are shown in the lower area of this screen but you can filter what routes are shown at the top of that window by pressing the "Change" button under the route image at the top right. That is basically what used to be called "Drive by Route" in Train Simulator 2012.

If you want to "Drive by Train" as it used to be called in Train Simulator 2012 then press the "Select" button under the train image in the upper right area.

Once you have chosen the scenario to drive just double click on it for it to load.

Q: Why don't Just Trains routes show up in the 'Quick Drive' menu?

A: This is because RailSimulator.com have encrypted the code that allows that option which means the Just Trains and other 3rd party developers cannot offer this option in the same way that Career scenarios are not offered.

Q: What is Train Simulator 2013?

A: Train Simulator 2013 is the latest version in the RailWorks/Train Simulator franchise that was released on 20th September 2012.

Q: I own Train Simulator 2012. What happened on 20th September?

A: If you already owned Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3, then it was upgraded to Train Simulator 2013 on 20th September with "game code/look/new features etc. updated for free" automatically via the STEAM interface.

Q: What's the difference between Train Simulator 2013 owned before the 20th September and Train Simulator 2013 bought for the first time ever after that date?

A: If you already owned Train Simulator 2012 before 20th September then not much has changed apart that it has been upgraded to Train Simulator 2013 "game code/look/new features etc. updated for free". You did not get the four routes that are in Train Simulator 2013 if you did not own Train Simulator 2013/RailWorks 3 prior to 20th September. If you did not own Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 before 20th September and you purchased Train Simulator 2013 after that date then you will, in reality have a different product to those who owned Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 prior to that date.

Q: What's the difference between a pre-20th September owned of Train Simulator 2013 and post owned Train Simulator 2013?

A: The post 20th September 'new owner' version of Train Simulator 2013 will not include several of the legacy owned items in it such as the following routes:

Newcastle-York

Bath-Templecombe

Hagen-Seigen

Oxford-Paddington

Barstow-San Bernadino

We have no information of what/if any rolling stock was removed.

Some of these removed routes will be available via STEAM but have no further details.

The default routes included in Train Simulator 2013 will be these as far as we are aware.

Sherman Hill

London to Brighton

Northeast Corridor

Isle of Wight

We have no information of what locomotives or rolling stock is included.

Please note that there may well be different versions of Train Simulator 2013 sold with varying content in different locations around the world. We have no further information on this.

Q: Will Just Train add-on routes, locomotives, rolling stock and scenarios work in Train Simulator 2013?

A: If you owned Train Simulator 2013 before 20th September then as far as we can see at the moment, you should have no real issues apart from possible use of new features such as 'quick drive' but this is subject to confirmation and we are working on updating our products as far as technically possible to ensure as full as possible compatibility.

If you a new owner of Train Simulator 2013 since 20th September then there may well be some issues and problems especially for routes as many of the default core objects that some routes call on to operate will be removed from the 'new owner' version of Train Simulator 2013. We are told that it may be possible to obtain these removed core assets from Rail Simulator.com but as of yet we have had no further information on this matter.

Q: Will Just Trains be updating its routes, locomotives, rolling stock and scenarios to work in the version of Train Simulator 2013 bought on or after 20th September?

A: We are already working on this but will not be any quick matter and indeed some products may not be updated as it may not be viable to do that. Routes and scenarios will probably not be updated but engines/locomotives and rolling stock are due to be shortly. We are updating the engines/locomotives and rolling stock to be compatible.

Please note that our products are sold and marketed as compatible with Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 unless stated otherwise and they are supplied with no warranty to work in any other version apart from Train Simulator2012/RailWorks 3.

Q: You say you will not be updating routes and scenarios to be compatible with Train Simulator 2013 bought on or after 20th September so how can I make these work?

A: We are told that certain routes and removed core assets will or are available from STEAM but we do not have details. If, for example, you want to buy a Just Trains scenario pack that has scenarios set on the Oxford-Paddington route, then if you obtain and install that route from STEAM then those scenarios should work, but there is no guarantee of this. The same applies for Just Trains routes, but in this case you will need to obtain the removed core assets from STEAM to ensure that the route is able to operate correctly, but once more there is no guarantee of this.

Q: What happens if I already own Train Simulator 2012/RailWorks 3 and I buy the full version Train Simulator 2013?

A: We have no information as regards this.

Q: Why does my RailDriver control not work with Train Simulator 2013?

A: This is due to the code in RailDriver looking for Train Simulator 2012 code which no longer exists. We are creating a small software update to address this.

Information updated 9th October 2012
