Capping a week with 8 new cold temperature records in Baltimore, including a day that started at +2F, a deep layer of arctic air was tough to budge as a storm moved in to the region. Light snow began during the morning, and as expected there was instant stickage and it became heavy within the first hour or two.  The next result was not a snow record, but the largest storm of the season with BWI officially measuring 6.3″ of snow.  The seasonal total of 19.5″ is just shy of the (1981 to 2010) average of 20.1″ and my seasonal outlook for 25″ to 35″.

Here are the final snow totals from area National Weather Service Spotters. I’ve included local county and metro area maps as well as a few other regional views in the slide show. These include southern Pennsylvania, western Virginia, northern Delaware, metro Phildelphia and New York City. A complete list of the reports from NWS Baltimore Washington Region is below.  Note that Baltimore metro was the top city, while most close to a foot were in northwest Montgomery County.  Quite a few around 10″ near Westminster and Bel Air.
