This past weekend, I decided to take my family on a small road trip to Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio. We live about an hour away from it and have never been. My husband has never been and he’s always lived in Columbus so I had to see what all the hype was about. My mother in law talks about how we should go all the time so I finally decided to jump in the car and go.

Since it was only an hour drive, it wasn’t a big deal. However, everything I wanted to take wouldn’t fit into our car. Being a family of 5 for the past 6 months has made me realize that we need a bigger car. Now I am not a minivan mom (drove one once and hated it) but I would enjoy an SUV. Something like the Chevy Traverse I saw at East Hills Chevrolet.

Anyway, we got to Hocking Hills and suited up. I wore Olivia (in a Beco Carrier) the whole time because I thought that a stroller wouldn’t work out. I was correct. We went to Old Man’s cave first and it’s all steps down and coming back up. I wouldn’t recommend a stroller at all. Once we got down into the cave, it was awesome. Wasn’t too hot… I think the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. We also saw a couple of waterfalls.

Hocking Hills isn’t just Old Man’s cave though. They have tons of trails you can walk and hike. Lots of rocks and just so much beauty. We can’t wait to head back even after spending over an hour walking. I don’t think we saw even a 4th of what we could have seen. I’m so excited to head back with my family as soon as we can.
