This statement from Suzette Doctolero of GMA Network summarizes her sentiment towards Senator Leila de Lima who have been using the gender issue as the shield from the controversy hounding her.
Kung lalaki si Sen. Delima at nagkaroon ng sexual relationship sa kanyang subordinate ay tiyak na magiging big issue ito. Lalo na’t ang relasyon ng isang mataas na opisyal sa isang mas mababa sa kanya ay hindi personal o private. Inappropriate behavior ito at conduct unbecoming lalo na’t magbibigay ito ng kahihiyan sa departamento o institusyong pinaglilingkuran. Bukod pa sa nagagamit ang sexual relationship na ito to gain favors kaya bawal na bawal.
In the post, Ms. Doctolero said that if de Lima happened to be a man and had a sexual relationship with a subordinate, for sure this would have been a big issue. This is especially true if the relationship between the high-ranking official and a subordinate is not kept in private. This is inappropriate behavior and conduct unbecoming, more so an embarrassment to the department or institution the high-ranking official represents. Worse, if the sexual relationship is being abused to gain favors, hence a taboo.
Kung lalaki si Sen Delima ay matagal na itong inakusahan at inimbestigahan for possible sexual coercion o sexual harrassment..at matagal na rin siguro itong pinag resign o nasampahan ng kasong administratibo.
Ms. Doctolero continued that if de Lima happened to be a man, charges may have been filed or an investigation conducted a long time ago for possible sexual coercion or sexual harassment…she should have been asked to tender her resignation or administrative charges may have been filed.
Pero dahil babae si sen Delima kaya ang kanyang inappropriate sexual relationships sa kanyang mga subordinates ay biglang non of our business! Weh?
But, since de Lima is a woman, the inappropriate sexual relationships with her subordinates is none of our business. Really?
