The 86th annual Oscars took place on Sunday night, not only is it the most anticipated award show of the year, it also marks the end of award season. Besides it being a night of celebration in film achievement over the past year, it is also all about the fashion!  Here is our Best Dressed Picks of the nigt!

The Ladies…

Hands down, it was new comer and best supporting actress winner Lupita Nyong’o’s night. Not only is she the next big rising star in film, but she’s also been turning heads as a fashionista in season’s red carpet looks.  Last night she had the fashion world talking about ‘Nairobi’ blue. The color she dubbed for her breath-taking Prada gown.

Although they were not in any movies that were nominated this year, presenters Kate Hudson and Charlize Theron gowns were stunning. Ms. Hudson opted for a Versace gown with a dropped waist and plunging neckline. What made this look fabulous was the sequined cape that rested over her shoulders as she posed for photographers on the red carpet. Ms.Theron looked statuesque is a black gown with clear straps by Christian Dior Haute Couture.

Last year’s break-out star Jennifer Lawrence stole the show by tripping over her elaborate Christian Dior gown as she was walking to accept her award for best supporting actress for Silver Linings Playbook. This year she was nominated again in the same category for her role in American Hustle, and although she did not win, she looked stunning in another Christian Dior Couture gown that was a bright and bold orange color.

The Men…

The first award of the night was given to Jared Leto for best supporting actor for his portrayal of a transsexual in the Dallas Buyers Club. Although he probably gave the best acceptance speech of the night, his choice to sport an Yves St. Laurent suit with a white jacket and burgundy bow tie was just alright. We think it was that lustrous ombre hair that completed his look.

A big trend we saw on the carpet for men’s fashion was navy blue. A gentleman that we thought pulled this trend off the best was House of Cards Star and presenter Kevin Spacey in a midnight blue Burberry suit.
