*Summary:*
The APAC Senior Manager-PR will be responsible for supporting the implementation of strategic news media relations plans and tactics in support of IHS Corporate Communications’ objectives that result in increased awareness of the IHS brand, its product and services, to our external stakeholders in the APAC region, Japan and globally, including news media, investors, customers and the community.

The APAC Senior Manager-PR position is Tokyo-based and reports to the Director-Corporate Communications APAC, who is located in Singapore. He/she is also expected to work collaboratively with other internal stakeholders, including IHS senior leaders, sales and marketing, researchers and analysts, who may be located in Japan and other geographies within the APAC region, as well as the Americas and EMEA.

The APAC Senior Manager-PR will help manage the APAC and global media relations program in handling and fulfilling significant volumes of inbound, local and foreign press inquiries from print, online and broadcast media, primarily within APAC, but from other regions as well.

The position also supports the IHS Global Media relations program by developing strategies and proactive tactics to identify, target and cultivate APAC news and social media relationships that result in media coverage (print, online, social), including coverage spanning all IHS business lines (Aerospace, Defence & Security; Automotive; Chemical; Economics & Country Risk/Financial & Capital Markets; Energy; Maritime & Trade; Product Design, and Technology) and other areas as deemed necessary.

The incumbent must be fluent in Japanese and English, and able to write clearly and effectively in both languages.

*Job Duties:*
* Support and execute the IHS global media relations program for print, broadcast, electronic and social news media and communications outlets around the world that will produce positive coverage of IHS, raise IHS brand awareness, and educate target stakeholders about IHS products/services.
* Development and execution of strategic communications programs and external messaging for Japan and other APAC markets aimed at building IHS brand awareness, corporate reputation and thought leadership targeting news media, customers, channel partners, the financial community and other external stakeholders in the region.
* Serve as a primary contact for news media for IHS in Japan and other APAC markets, coordinating delivery of compelling, consistent and timely IHS content across all media audiences. Respond to and manage all media inquiries received in the region and globally by IHS. Assess suitability of the inquiry alongside the PR strategy and resolve accordingly.
* Develop meaningful, dependable media relationships with key international, national, local and trade media outlets, across broadcast, print and online media, including managing these relationships locally and onsite at key events hosted by IHS or a third party.
* Collaborate closely with IHS researchers and analysts, sales and marketing and other PR colleagues in developing effective communications programs that support their product sales and marketing objectives, including adapting/creating content to be used for IHS news releases, research notes, and exclusives.
* Develop and manage or deliver presentation, media and stakeholder communications training for IHS leadership and spokespeople.
* Ability to read and write, and interpret English-to-Japanese copy, and vice versa, for the development of communications collateral, such as press releases, research notes, analyst availability, media invites, key messages, FAQs and articles, to support APAC corporate communications and marketing programs aimed at various stakeholders, including local news media, customers, channel partners and the financial community.
* Work with the global IHS Corporate Communications team to ensure that all APAC media relations activities are aligned to and support overall IHS corporate strategy and goals.
* Support management of IHS media relations reporting system ensuring that all contacts and coverage are captured in the IHS PR database.
* Support ‘IHS Press Desk’ media relations program providing primary leadership and support in managing media inquiries and proactive pitches for all of APAC news media.
* Develop strategy and manage media for events organized by IHS business lines and product teams.
* Utilize electronic tools such as video, webcasts, social media, etc., in the execution of colleague communications programs.
* Support IHS Investor Relations (IR) in the region by helping the team to promote the CEO profile and senior management credibility, and communicating company news to shareholders: including management changes, M&A, earnings statements, road shows, field trips and the wider investor relations program across Japan.
* Work with IHS Corporate Communications to protect the reputation of the IHS global brand and all IHS sub-brandsworking on the development, updating and companywide adoption of the crisis communications policy and materials used by IHS globally – developing and executing strategies that will predict and mitigate against individual incidents, issues and crises in Japan.
* Coordinate and schedule usage of the IHS broadcast studios, including working directly with media producers, bookers and talent, IHS experts and the outside vendor.
* Manage measurement of global news media program success to key performance metrics and ROI measures as established by the Corporate Communications team

*Required Education:*
A colleague/university degree in Public Relations & Communications, Journalism and/or Business Administration, or similar areas, is a minimum requirement.  A graduate degree is preferred. Credentialed by professional association.

*Required Experience:*
* The ideal candidate for this position will be an outstanding communications professional with at least 5-7 years’ experience working in a corporate communications environment or Public Relations agency servicing client accounts/projects.
* The candidate must possess excellent written and bilingual (English & Japanese) communication skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple, compelling, concise and creative way to external and internal audiences.
* The candidate must have proven writing skills (in English & Japanese) for the development of press releases and other PR collateral for news media, based on IHS research and analyses, as well as other IHS content sources.
* The candidate should have a proven track record of success in local media relations, including an understanding of how local Japanese news media operates and how to work with reporters in a courteous and professional manner.
* The candidate must have the ability to develop new relationships with global, national, local and trade media outlets within Japan and other markets in APAC.
* The candidate should have proven success in developing and implementing successful corporate communications strategies and programs for both external and internal audiences.
* The candidate must be experienced in working with senior stakeholders and clients and gaining their support for and participation in key communications projects that help achieves objectives.
