As the Head of Marketing for Japan, you will be responsible for driving the success of AWS among startups, developers, small businesses and enterprise audiences across all of Japan. You will be responsible for defining and driving marketing programs and events, while leading and managing a growing team of marketing managers and Evangelists in Japan. You will own defining and driving regional marketing plan, budget, resources, programs and events and will execute global marketing programs and events in Japan. The right candidate has successful experience in results-driven marketing, an unbridled passion for technology, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities

+ Acts as the business partner to field sales leaders in the region, responsible for gathering requirements, developing and executing a cohesive GTM strategy across Japan

+ Develops comprehensive annual field marketing strategy and plan that is aligned with the region’s marketing and sales goals, and updates quarterly as the needs of the market or sales team change

+ Manages a team of regional and in-country field marketers to drive demand, execute the marketing plan and align resources as needed to country-specific goals

+ Participates as key stakeholder and business partner with the sales leadership in the region and geography. This includes participating in Sales QBRs, providing monthly and quarterly marketing updates, and offers ongoing updates to key stakeholder’s teams as appropriate.

+ Manages in-field marketing team that executes on all aspects of marketing plan. Actively develops the team and provides guidance, to ensures the team understands their role in the success of AWS

+ Understands and can actively provide counsel and enhancements and raise the bar on all marketing tactics – digital marketing (email, webinars, 3rd party programs), social media, demand generation, partner marketing, communication and events

+ Works closely and collaboratively with the global teams to advocate for needs of the region, and understand how to leverage tools created centrally for optimal results

+ 15+ years of relevant work experience in marketing, specifically in running a JAPAN field marketing organization and managing a team for an enterprise company.

+ Experience in marketing B2B technology products or services.

+ A career path that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and proven success delivering measurable marketing results and building a strong field marketing team.

+ Proven experience finding creative ways to do more with less, and a track record of staying on budget and delivering programs on time.

+ Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization.

+ Superior oral and written communication skills with an innate attention to detail.

+ Exceptional fluency in Japanese required, with a very strong fluency in English as well.

+ Willingness to travel to headquarters (Seattle) as often as once a quarter or more as needed to participate in key meetings.

+ Proven knowledge of industry tools preferred, such as Salesforce.com, HTML, and online analytics packages

+ Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, technology, or relevant field of study.

+ Ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities to execute high quality deliverables.
