This position is located at the U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) Okinawa, Japan. As an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSEC/NETWORK), you will be responsible for the development, implementation, administration and monitoring of the Information Assurance (IA) Program, and performing security oversight of the local and wide-area networks.

### Duties

* Compile, create and maintain information required for submittal to higher headquarters for Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation efforts to ensure continuous certification and authorization to operate the USNH Okinawa network and IT systems.

* Coordinate with other IT professions in the command and at remote offices to ensure compliance with the IAVM System.

* Conduct vulnerability scanning and remediation of vulnerabilities on all equipment connected to the command network.

* Establish standard configuration of servers, network equipment and workstations in accordance with DOD-mandated Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

* Resolve system problems, orient end users, perform on-site training as necessary and advise department heads and other command personnel on new Information Assurance procedures.

Basic Requirements:

In addition, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the **GS-09**grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates: Attention to Detail: Takes a thorough, conscientious approach to work performed; Customer Service: Identifies a client or customer need and provides a quality product or service. Oral Communication: Expresses information via oral presentation; AND Problem Solving: Identifies problem, ascertains root cause and impact, and provides recommendations for resolution. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing medical healthcare information technology (IT) delivery systems (i.e., Teleradiology and Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS)) and requirements within a radiology department; AND responsibility for maintenance and performance of medical imaging database hardware/ software processing technologies.

Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

**REQUIREMENTS:**

Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade. This position is a Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III certification as described in the DoD 8570.01-M. Upon request of the Information Assurance Manager (IAM), the employee shall provide documentation supporting the Information Assurance qualification status. The employee must maintain qualification status in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M. Employees not meeting DoD requirement 8570.01-M qualification within six months of hire shall be removed from the position.

Selectee may be required to move or lift and place various equipment.

Work requires infrequent travel away from the normal duty station on an irregular basis. Local travel to Branch Medical Clinics is required.
