The purpose of this position is to provide early intervention and related services to developmentally delayed and disabled children and adolescents including their families, who are attending or eligible to attend Department of Defense Dependent Schools. This position involves professional work requiring the application of a professional knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of occupational therapy to clinical and educational services and to prevent disability, restore impaired function, and to teach adaptation when there is a permanent disability all in an effort to maximize a child's fullest potential. The primary function is to provide occupational therapy evaluation and treatment services to eligible children, age birth to 21 years.

First priority consideration will be given to preference eligible veterans.

Second priority consideration will be given to military spouse and family member preference eligibles residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.

### Duties

A typical day in the life of an Occupational Therapist!

* Execute a full range of direct, pediatric, educationally relevant, occupational therapy procedures, diagnostic, and treatment services for the Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS). Pediatric specialty techniques are used to manage clients with a combination of mild to severe physical, developmental, learning, and behavioral impairments from birth through 21 years.

* Independently evaluate referred clients for diagnosis and treatment planning and to determine current levels of functioning. Clients include infants and children with Down's syndrome, muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular and orthopedic dysfunction, learning disabilities, congenital anomalies, and behavioral/emotional disorders.

* Attend case study committee meetings and other meetings impacting the child's care.

* Formulate specific recommendations for occupational therapy goals and objectives.

* Design therapeutic programs to enhance development and/or school performance.

* Coordinate clients' occupational therapy schedule with other EDIS providers, teachers, and parents so that quality of care is maintained for infants and children, birth to 21 years.

* Provide treatment services to eligible children age's birth to 3 years old, in our Early Intervention Program, via the Primary Service Provider (PSP) model

* Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to evaluate referred Early Intervention clients for treatment planning and to determine current levels of function.

* Be a part of an established team consisting of multiple disciplines, collaborating and implementing the primary service provider model (PSP). The PSP model follows that each team member will be an evidence based practitioner. This include being knowledgeable of the evidence to support practice in his or her own discipline, Part C Mission and Federal guidelines, as well as, global development. Clients include infants and children with a variety of diagnoses, such as but not limited to, developmental delays, global delays, prematurity, etc.
