As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) helps leaders prepare for opportunity, empowering them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. The EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries.

This is a new role and will be instrumental in supporting theEIU's strategy to build a healthcare research business. The Business Development Executive (BDE) willwork in partnership with theSeniorBusiness Development Manager (BDM) to grow and manage the designated territory. The goal is to support the BDM to meet and exceed their sales goals for the region. This job has multiple dimensions and requires someone who can manage client relations, prospecting, order flow and the overall activities of the territory.

The ideal candidate will have a background in sales and be comfortable prospecting and building new business leads. The BDE will be expected to learn about our clients and become familiar with the various healthcare research tools and capabilities which we use. The BDE will work with the BDM and the wider healthcare team to respond with customized proposals. The ideal candidate should have a genuine interest in the healthcare industry and eager to learn and develop their knowledge of the sector.

Accountabilities:
In the role you would be expected toincrease the sales activity level and number of opportunities of EIU Healthcare(HC) Japan by:

Workingwith theSeniorBusiness Development Manager (BDM) to formulate and execute the sales strategy for their territory.
*
Supportingthe sales process (prospect, qualify, proposal, negotiate and close) and work effectively with the BDM and analyst teams for management of key accounts.
*
Tracking and updating EIU HC market penetration status in Japan bymapingout existing key clients/prospectsand un-reached key target companies within key HC sectors.
*
Improving the effectiveness of prospecting process by identifying bottle-neck, and key areas of improvement through the review and analysis with the BDM
*
Identify new contacts perform calls and introduce our custom research services and qualify these contacts for the BDM
*
Responding to inbound calls and emails received by customer services/ marketing team. Qualifying the clients’ needs and work with the BDM and analyst team to action any viable prospects.
*
Supporting marketing in inviting key clients and prospects to EIU events.
*
Support the BDM in the maintaining of sales pipeline and data entry in salesforce CRM system.
*
Support the proposal and contract process for healthcare clients in the territory.

Experience, skills and professional attributes:
To succeed in the role you must have:

*
Degree in a business related discipline
*
2-3 years’ experience preferably in an inside salesor new business developmentrolein Japan
*
A working knowledge of the Healthcare industry is preferred
*
Experiencecreating the relationship with andselling into MNCs,and/or major Japanese companiesis advantageous
*
Experience of entire sales cycle(from cold call to deal closing)is advantageous
*
Excellent verbal and writtenbusinesscommunication skills
*
Proficient in Microsoft office programs
*
Experience of using CRM systems such as Salesforce.com
*
Native levelJapanese andbusiness levelEnglish writingand speaking skills
