Hello Friends!

Hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend! I don’t usually post on Saturday but today I’m teaming up with 7 other bloggers to bring you a variety of projects! It’s a monthly party where we create any DIY that was inspired from something on Pinterest and is hosted by Havalah from Sisters, What! I’ve been pinning away like crazy on Pinterest but it’s fun to be challenged to actually make something that I see on there!  I’ve kinda been obsessed with chalkboard paint for
forever
a long time now, so it didn’t take me any time at all to decided what I’d make!

Chalkboards are certainly nothing new! I could seriously paint a whole wall with it. And let me tell ya, I sat and studied many walls in our home, planning and plotting which one it would be. While we absolutely LOVE our open floor plan in our home, it also makes it kinda hard to paint one wall with chalkboard paint as they all flow together it seems. And so this idea was formed and I absolutely love how it turned out!

It was super easy to make … here’s what I used for the chalkboard: a piece of hardboard from Home Depot, Folk Art Chalkboard paint from Michaels and trim. I had everything on hand except the wood from Home Depot. It was a very large piece and was damaged on the back so I got it for $4!

The size of the wood is 30X36inches. The trim that I used was actually leftoever from when my husband built our Board and Batten Head Board for our Master Bedroom Makeover. It worked perfect for the bottom of the frame and creates a little ledge for the chalk.

I gave the frame 3 coats of paint, letting it dry completely after each coat. You can’t really tell from the picture, but the two side pieces of trim are cut at 45degree angles. I glued all the pieces of trim onto my board, and then used screws to secure it.

It’ll be so fun to write anything from my grocery list, to little notes, to schedules, to seasonal things on it!

I had a little bit of fun with it BEFORE my husband hung it…

Even our little daughter loves using it… and leaving sweet messages on it!

This is definitely one of my favorite DIY projects! I just love how the white frame makes it stand out against our walls!

And now here’s the rest of this month’s projects!
