Public Affairs Exercise

For this assignment we were asked to contribute to an article about court reporting for the Justice Gap, I was given the task to contact newspapers in South Yorkshire. I emailed editors from The Star, Doncaster Free Press, South Yorkshire Times, Barnsley Chronicle and Rotherham Advertiser.

Some of the people I contacted are also editors of other newspapers, therefore, I wanted to encourage them to complete the survey for more than one newspaper. I emailed the editors with a brief explanation for contacting them together with the survey link and the information provided by my lecturer.

I did not get any replies after sending the emails and I finally decided to phone up each newspaper, but I did not have much luck with this either. Most of the newspapers did not answer my phone calls the first time, and I still did not get any replies if I tried phoning them up at a different time. Those who did answer were not interested in the survey or did not feel like they had the time to answer questions from a student.

Since I did not manage to get in touch with most of them I did not learn whether or not they completed the survey.
