I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Millennial Central for MY M&M’S. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to thank me for my participation. Any opinions are 100% honest and my own – thank you for supporting brands that support Miss Josi Denise.

Although my husband and I have been together over 7 years, and I have planned dozens of weddings for other blushing brides, I must admit I never had a big day myself. (Until recently.) We met while working on a cruise ship in Hawaii, and have since built a wonderful life together, but never had an official celebration of our love. So this spring we decided to finally take the plunge, and make our family cruise a memorable one by having a somewhat secretive onboard vow ceremony. Just the two of us and our little ones enjoyed a beautiful exchange of promises, wedding cake, and a champagne toast at sea with some great photo keepsakes to bring home.

It was perfect and intimate as we wanted, but our family (made up of people who throw parties for no good reason at all) was not entirely pleased that we had such a small, unannounced official wedding. So what’s the solution? Throw another party! We are now planning a lovely wedding cocktail reception and dinner for family and friends to join us in celebration. And of course my inner event planner is giddy with excitement. I apologize in advance to any of my Pinterest followers bombarded with appetizer and party favor pins (no seriously, check out some of my overflowing boards.)

Maybe because I have the experience I do, I am all about the details, but as much as I love DIY – you will never find me hunched over a table of glitter with a glue gun for hours. I want my plans to be simple, beautiful, affordable, and most importantly memorable. A trend that I am absolutely in love with is edible wedding favors. Do your guests really want a keychain or book of matches with your names and date engraved on it? Probably not. Mini bottles of champagne and orange juice for mimosas in their hotel the next morning, or a make-your-own s’mores kit? Getting better, but still a bit of work on both ends. I feel like personalized take-home jars of something sweet to remember you buy is the best way to go. Trail-mix, local honey, or a fill-your-own bag candy bar with stamped keepsake bags are all great ideas depending on your theme. Of course though, the way to my heart is and always has been chocolate. Specifically M&M’S, and if you know me well, make them the peanut butter kind.

So I’ll share a little teaser of what we’re planning at our reception just because I just ordered them, and I’m so excited that I can’t possibly wait. MY M&M’S offers a unique opportunity to add a level of personalization and customization to chocolate and gifts, and I am thrilled about how special these will make our already magical moment with friends and family. Through the MY M&M’S website, I was able to order the perfect little party favors that couldn’t be more personal. We chose pink, gold and white to match our decor but I have to admit this took me longer than it should have (the process is very easy and quick) – just because the design process is so much fun! You can choose from 25 vibrant colors, 20 of which can be printed with custom messages, images, and photos. Yes – PHOTOS. I uploaded one of our favorite photos of us as a couple and could instantly see the preview of how it will look printed on the candies. You can choose up to two images (photos or several clip art options they have for each occasion) and up to two custom messages, so I also picked an adorable image that says “Just Married” with little hearts, and lastly one design with just our names.

If I wasn’t already excited about the custom designs on MY M&M’S, I definitely was when I saw that they offer personalized packaging to complete the wedding theme. M&M’S can be ordered in bulk bags or beautiful glass dishes as centerpieces, or in one of the many display options available for events. At this point I was honestly planning dozens of parties for every possible life event in my head just to see how adorable and perfect some of the available designs are. I was torn between a few options including DIY silver candy tins or even designing the M&M’S with “Thank You” as one of the messages and sending them home in printed favor bags. But ultimately I decided on the beautiful elegant lace favor bags, because not only can guests take them home but they will also look gorgeous displayed on the table with the custom colors showing through the white lace. Also, they come pre-filled in the bags so that’s one less thing to check off my to-do list! (And I know some of you would seriously be counting how many of each color went in each bag if you filled them yourself, admit it.)

I will definitely be posting an update when they arrive with of course lots of photos! I can’t wait to see them and I just love what a great addition they will be to the party. Who has candy with their faces on them? So fun! I knew you could order custom color M&M’S but I did not know just how many personalization options there are, so now  (especially since so many of my friends are recently engaged!) I’ll definitely be ordering them more often for bridal showers, bachelorettes, and weddings (and birthday parties or graduation gifts too probably). In the meantime, I guess it’s back to my Pinterest wedding boards addiction.
