Despite the fact that my first outfit involves boots, I feel like spring has finally arrived FOR GOOD here in PA. If the temps dip below freezing again, I might lose my ever-loving’ mind… what I have left of it, anyway. But we enjoyed a gorgeous weekend in Virginia for Easter, and the weather forecast here looks quite seasonable so I say, bring on spring!

The nice thing about this in-between weather is that it does allow the opportunity to layer. In the wintertime I’m so cold that I just want to wear bulky sweaters and boots, but in the summertime my outfit combinations become severely limited because I want to live in tank tops and shorts, so I love spring and fall because I have so many variations I can put together. Unfortunately, neither season lasts very long.

We did have a burst of cold weather last week and I took the opportunity to try pairing white jeans with boots and a long-sleeve sweater. I’ve always wanted to try that on for size (so to speak). By the weekend, it was 70 degrees and I was wearing a sleeveless dress! So my outfits are all over the map this week.

What I Wore This Week

Here I am wearing my white jeans (DL 1961 Angel Ankle Skinnies) with cognac boots (old).

I added the teal tunic sweater (Nordstrom/old) because I liked the color combination. It works, but I think I’d like this outfit more in the fall. I dug out my white Lucky Brand hobo bag (old) because I liked how the handle coordinated with the boots. I know, I am certifiable.

And I absolutely adore how this necklace (Studio Jewel) and the wrap bracelet (Francesca’s) work with the color palette. And my MK Chain Bracelet Watch is now on sale for 25% off at Nordstrom! Also note the snakeskin belt (another Francesca’s find). I tried doing the “front tuck” with this outfit, and I think I like it.

I still felt like the outfit was a bit heavy for spring, so I changed into my Toms Desert Booties and untucked the sweater.

I also switched bags. This one works much better with the shoes. I suppose it’s time I come clean and own up to this purchase. You may remember me drooling over this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag a few months ago and lamenting the fact this color had been discontinued. Well. I found it on clearance at Nordstrom… 35% off! And I couldn’t resist. I snatched it up.

These Toms Desert Booties have served me well this year! So glad that guy at Nordstrom in Rhode Island brought them to me and made me try them.

I’m not sure which outfit I like better. I think they both work, but I went with this one. It felt more spring-like, somehow. Although I wish I’d kept the sweater tucked. I think it looked better that way.

This is my “keeping it real photo of the week” — my Teal Lizzy Zip Up from Evy’s Tree and my Fabletics Capri Leggings, both gifted for review consideration. In fact, the Mizuno sneakers I’m wearing here were also samples for a blog campaign. I wore this outfit to go to PT and then I ended up keeping it on all day.

This was my travel outfit on Friday. When we left PA, it was quite chilly. I knew we were going to do some sightseeing on the way to my parents’ home in Roanoke, Virginia, so I wore my utility jacket (Banana Republic, last fall) over a pink and white striped sweater (Banana Republic, last spring) and casual medium-wash blue jeans (similar). I had my daughter take this photo in the Chick-Fil-A parking lot, where we stopped for a quick breakfast on the way. Dontcha luv how my face is blurry? I guess the camera was focusing on my car, not me. That’s what happens when an 8-year-old takes your picture.

Later that day it warmed up and I was able to ditch the coat as we toured Lexington, Virginia. Everything about this outfit is old, so no links. This type of outfit is super easy to re-create, though. I really enjoy having a few lightweight spring sweaters for this in-between weather. I picked this one up at Banana Republic last spring. Add a pair of medium-wash bluejeans and ballet flats, and you’re good to go! Just don’t forget to accessorize. I went for subtle pieces, nothing special — my diamond earrings (okay, they are special, but not high fashion or anything) and a hand-stamped necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs and a silver link bracelet and my watch. I wore my Crocs Kadee for the comfort factor.

But this is my most favorite accessory of all . . . my littlest fan. She wanted to get in on the action. I should have had her pose. She’s wearing the cutest little blingy sweatshirt and pink stretchy pants from P.S. from Aeropostale (as a member of their VIP blogger program, I was provided with a gift card that I used to purchase those items.) And her glittery TOMS can be purchased at Nordstrom.

We returned to Lexington the next day to do more sightseeing. I’ll be writing a post later this week all about that excursion! I wore my gray/lilac LOFT honeycomb sweater with the same jeans from the day before.

I forgot to bring the necklace I like with this sweater so I went without. It’s a simple outfit, but it worked well for a cool spring day walking and touring. (Again, the MK watch, 25% off! YAY!)

I picked up these lightweight minimal Ecco sneakers at The Walking Company the day before I left for our trip.

I wasn’t sure if I’d like them with jeans, I’m really weird about wearing sneakers with jeans. I just don’t do it. But I felt like this worked, and they were super comfortable, especially since I used my Abeo inserts in them.

Easter Sunday was positively gorgeous. It’s the first year we’ve had nice weather on Easter for as long as I can remember. I wore this blue and white striped dress that you’ve seen many times before.

I prefer this dress with my super high heeled pumps, but my foot’s been giving me fits so I decided to be sensible and wear my Cole Haan Milly wedge pumps, which you can barely see because they are hiding in the grass. My husband had me laughing about something, I have no idea what.

We got this photo of our family at the hotel where we ate brunch after church. Incidentally, this is the hotel where we had our wedding reception. My kids were fascinated by that, and they wanted to hear the whole story about how Paul and I met — which is a pretty funny story that you can sum up in two words: blind date. Or you can read the whole story, if you have time to kill.

It was a bit windy!!

That night, I met one of my dearest friends for dinner, and I wore my mint skinnies with the cream LOFT open stitch sleeve sweater and Milly wedge pumps (25% off at Nordstrom!!!)

The bracelet stack, necklace and sweater are all from LOFT. And I’m in love with this nail color: Essie Lilacism. I picked it up at Target.

On Monday we drove home, and once again I went for a simple, casual outfit. This is definitely my least favorite outfit of the week. I don’t feel like it’s particularly flattering, but I was driving seven hours and visiting Safari Park so I knew I needed to be comfy. I do like the color combo — you can’t go wrong with gray and coral! I’d have worn white jeans rather than blue if I hadn’t been prepared to feed wild animals (No, I’m not joking.) (And believe it or not, I actually ironed that t-shirt.)

I love the back of this sweater (Banana Republic, old). I tried to get a photo even though it’s no longer available to you to illustrate how subtle details can make all the difference. The sweater isn’t particularly flattering, but it serves a purpose and the details make it interesting.

I wish I had a more exciting outfit to end up on, but trust me, you don’t want to see what I wore yesterday. So that’s a wrap!
