The Insolvency Service is an Executive Agency of The Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS). The service provides a range of important public services and enforcement activities associated with and arising from personal and corporate insolvency and corporate misconduct. We have around 1,700 staff operating from 21 locations across Great Britain. We are about to embark on a huge transformation programme to replace our case management system and also our financial accounting system. We are also planning our applications roadmap to enable and support the Governments Digital Agenda.

We are now looking for three Lead Developers who will report into the Application Development Manager and be responsible for leading a small team of two or three software developers. As a member of the application development and support team, you will be responsible for leading software developments based on an agile methodology across both new projects and existing applications.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with open source technologies such as Java, C# or Python. You will have extensive SQL Server experience as well as web based applications including: SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You will ideally have experience working with Github or Team Foundation Server source control management tools.

The desired candidate will have exposure in automated testing and deployment. You will have a good understanding of architecture and have worked as a Senior Developer within a similar sized organisation. The successful candidates will have experience working on projects that are being run in both waterfall and agile methodologies.
