Odisha Govt to fill 1,450 vacancies of Teaching Faculty in Govt Medical Colleges. More than 450 posts of senior faculty in three Government medical colleges are lying vacant, painting a sordid picture of healthcare sector in the State.
Besides vacancy in posts of senior faculty, over 1,000 other posts are also yet to be filled up pointing towards the dismal state of affairs in healthcare system. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak informed this in Assembly in a written reply to a query from Dilip Ray.
Nayak said 18 posts of professor, 37 associate professor, 214 assistant professor and two posts of senior resident are vacant in SCB Medical College and Hospital, MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla and dental college in Cuttack.
While a total of 126 posts of teacher is vacant in SCB Medical, 14 posts of senior faculty are yet to be filled in its dental wing. Similarly, 70 and 61 posts of teacher are vacant in VSS Medical, Burla and MKCG Medical, Berhampur respectively.
Staff position in homoeopathic and ayurvedic colleges is more precarious. Replying to a separate question, Nayak said 126 posts of teacher are vacant in homoeopathic colleges at Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Cuttack and Baripada. Similarly, 81 posts are yet to be filled up in ayurvedic colleges in Puri, Balangir, Ankushpur, Paikmal and Bhubaneswar. Besides, more than 250 other posts are vacant in these colleges.
Nayak said 21 posts of professor and reader and four posts of lecturer are vacant in Dr Abhinna Chandra Homeopathic College and Hospital at Bhubaneswar while more than 25 posts of lecturer are vacant in Berhampur homoeopathic college. Nayak, however, said steps have been initiated to fill up the vacant posts in medical colleges and hospitals, homoeopathic and ayurvedic colleges.
