KSET Exam Syllabus Exam Pattern Format Previous Question Papers Download Karnataka SET
Scheme and date of examination:
The test will be consisting of three papers. The test for all the three papers will consist
of only Multiple-choice Questions (MCQ). The test will be held on 30th November 2014 in
two separate sessions as mentioned below:

Paper-I : General Paper is on Teaching and Aptitude:
This Paper shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. In the event of candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated and within that if grace marks awarded at later stage before declaration of the results to any question even if the candidate unattempted then such questions will also included in the count while counting the first 50 questions.
Paper-II : Subject Paper :
This Paper shall consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each paper will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 compulsory Multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of two marks each and maximum marks will be 100.
Paper-III: Subject paper (in depth questions):
This Paper will consist of 75 Multiple-choice (MCQ) compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidates. Each question will carry two marks and maximum marks will be 150.
PROCEDURE and CRITIRIA FOR DECLARATION OF KSET RESULT:
This will comprise the following steps for considering a candidate for the eligibility for lectureship:
Step 1: The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as stated below:

Step 2: A merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks (from all the three papers) obtained amongst the candidates who have scored minimum marks prescribed in each paper as stated in step 1.
Step 3: From out of merit list prepared in step-2, top 15% candidates (in each subject and in each category) will be declared as KSET qualified for eligibility for Lectureship.
It may be noted that the above qualifying criteria decided by KSET is final and binding.
SYLLABUS AND QUESTION PAPER FOR K-SET:
a) Syllabus: Syllabus for KSET examination will be the same as in UGC/CSIRNET. Syllabi for all the KSET subjects can be downloaded from the KSET website http://kset.uni-mysore.ac.in. The KSET center, Mysore will not send the syllabus to the candidates individually.
b) In case of any discrepancy found in the English and Kannada versions in the question booklet the question in English version shall be taken as final.

** The candidates who have completed/ appearing in their Master’s Degree in Pure Mathematics / Statistics / Applied Mathematics, Mathematics with computer science & other related subjects can take KSET examination under “Mathematical Sciences”.
*** The candidates who have completed/ appearing in their Master’s Degree in Chemical Sciences / Analytical Chemistry / Inorganic Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Physical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Nuclear Chemistry / Environmental Chemistry / Marine Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Bioorganic Chemistry & other related subjects can take KSET examination under
“Chemical Sciences”.
**** The candidates who have completed / appearing in their Master’s Degree in Biochemistry / Biology / Biotechnology / Biodiversity & Taxonomy / Botany / Genetics / Microbiology / Physiology/ Zoology / Fishery science / Animal Biology / Marine Biology / Applied Genetics & other related can take KSET examination under
“Life Sciences”.
***** The candidates who have completed/appearing in their Master’s Degree in Geology / Applied Geology / Geo-physics / Meteorology / Oceanography / Physical Geography / MS Geology / Earth Science Resource Management / Marine Geology / Petroleum Geology / Geo-informatics / Applied Geochemistry / Geography & other related subjects can take KSET examination under “Earth Sciences”.
Candidates who are appearing (Final year) in their Master Degree examination can also apply for K-SET.
Those postgraduate students who have passed post graduate examination in more than one subject can appear for KSET examination only in one subject at a time.
