Job Title:  HUMAN RESOURCES SENIOR GENERALIST      Date Developed/Reviewed/Revised: 8/15
Reports to:  Vice President Human Resources                                   Department:  Human Resources
SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources Director, the HR Senior Generalist carries out policies and programs relating to all phases of human resource activities. These duties include, but are not limited to: employee relations, ensuring compliance with regulations, assisting with recruiting and benefits, payroll and HRIS management, performing research, preparing and generating reports, composing various letters, advising staff and leaders on the interpretation of personnel policies, practices, procedures, rules, benefits and programs, volunteers and interns program oversight, and working on special projects as needed.  Maintains effective communication and confidentiality of information.  Actively participates in performance improvement and safety initiatives for the organization. Maintains departmental and organizational records as required and oversees the maintenance of the human resource files consistent with licensing, certification, and accreditation standards.  Utilizes hospital resources to recruit and retain staff and enhance the image of TCHC as a leading employer in the region.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports the mission of TCHC through personal conduct and behaviors that contribute ideas and
suggestions, is helpful and friendly, demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality, and adheres to organizational policies and rules, and positively demonstrates and adheres to the organization’s Standards of Excellence.  Demonstrates concern for patients of all ages, visitors and co-workers.  Maintains confidentiality of information and privacy compliance.

Provides support in formulating and implementing the objectives of the strategic work plan at
TCHC in accordance with the mission and strategic initiatives related to human resource programs in a manner that enhances the institution’s image for the constituents of the organization including patients and residents, staff, providers, and the general community.

Maintains compliance with regulations, employee and labor relations and employment law.Participates to the extent necessary in all employment related legal interfaces, including
depositions, workers compensation, unemployment benefits, and labor relations.  Assures compliance with FMLA, ADA, EOE, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other laws relating to human resources management.

Plans and supports employee recruitment, staffing and retention programs to attract and
promote TCHC services to potential candidates.  Assists the Leadership Team with all aspects of hiring and transfer processes.  Assists with coordination, development and implementation of an orientation program for new employees and volunteers.  Provides education regarding personnel management for the Leadership Team on an ongoing basis.  Assists in customer satisfaction activities.

Supports job description development, staff position design and the performance
evaluation processes. Gathers, utilizes and interprets survey data to provide wage and salary recommendations.  Works with Administration to oversee and establish the wage and salary program. Coaches Managers in evaluation techniques.

Monitors the employee benefit programs.Assists with resolving claim issues.
Assists in benefit review and recommendations.  Coordinate annual benefit education and enrollment.

Advises Department Managers/Supervisors with employee discipline, counseling issues
and coordinates the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Collaborates with Employee Health to coordinate Workers Compensation insurance claims and to manage and maintain the records required.  Assists with OSHA compliance.

Collects and interprets turnover date, conducts exit interviews, identify/implement strategies to reduce negative turnover / increase retention.

Monitors Worker’s Compensation claims history and Safety reports to identify trends andopportunities to improve workplace safety.Supports the AWAIR Program.

Facilitates the Employee Relations Committee meetings.Gathers employee feedback, develops, implements and monitors staff retention plans including the employee longevity program. Provides leadership and coordination for special employee events sponsored by TCHC.Attends public functions as appropriate to represent the organization.

Coordinates activities related to the Events, Volunteer Programs and Student/Internship
Programs and selecting, scheduling and supervising people in those roles.  Provides initial                          orientation and ongoing training and maintains documentation as required for compliance.

May volunteer or be assigned to serve on various committees, including but not limited to: Environment of Care, Employee Relations, Compliance, and Education.

PREVIOUS EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Required:  Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field
Preferred: (S)PHR certification or SHRM-(S)CP

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
Required:  Five years of related human resource experience.

HAZARD EXPOSURE:
For further detailed information on possible biohazard exposures, refer to Employee Right To Know Manual. Not regularly exposed to risk of bloodborne or respiratory disease.  Exposure to CRT screen.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sedentary Duty:  exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body (based on U.S. Department of Labor data). The following physical activities are required to perform this job:
Occasionally (up to 33% of work time): standing, walking, reaching, and lifting.
Frequently (34-66% of work time): sitting, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, near acuity vision.

Business dress clothing.  Hospital provided name badge required.
