Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator, this position is the primary caregiver for campers. This position is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.Camp Specific Information:Camp Cormorant is located at14563 YMCA Lane, Lake Park, MN 56554.Rate of pay is based on a weekly basis rather than an hourly basis and paid bi-weekly with free room and board at the camp. The camp positions are seasonal and work only during the camping season which is approximately June to August. There is no work scheduled for the week of July 4th and you will have every Saturday off. However, there maybe occasional weekend events with additional compensation opportunities.Qualifications:Required Education, Certifications, Experience:1. At least 18 years old 2. 6 months experience working with Youth3. CPR/AED Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant4. First Aid CertificationOther Important Skills and Abilities:1. Ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed2. Reviews the "Camper's Letter to My Counselor" and Camper Information Form before the Campers arrive3. Greets campers and parents upon arrival.4. Assists campers with getting settled into their assigned cabin5. Assists in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their cabins, within activities and throughout camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes. 6. Responsible for leading and assisting with the teaching of activities. Actively and enthusiastically participates in all program areas as assigned. 7. Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship.8. Works efficiently and effectively as a team player9. Prepares plans with the Counselor-In-Training (CIT)10. Discusses any concerns with the Camp Coordinator11. Attends meetings and actively participates in parent information night.12. Is on time and present for scheduled shift; when unable to work scheduled shift – informs supervisor per policy and finds own replacement if possible2. Other duties upon request by immediate supervisorBlood Exposure:Category 2: This position occasionally performs duties that result in exposure to "Fluids at Risk for Transmission" or this person may render some medical assistance as part of their position in an emergency on limited occasions.
