JOB SUMMARY: RN Supervise identifies and implements nursing interventions that have predictable outcomes, and evaluates the results of these interventions for a given patient population. RESPONSIBILITY: Nursing Practice and Resident Care ResponsibilitiesTASKS:1. Assessment and Diagnosisa.) Establishes relationship with patient and family and introduces self and explains role.b.) Applies effective interviewing skills to elicit information from resident/family/significant other that is necessary to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.b.) Performs the initial nursing and physical assessment; document in Matrix.c.) Identifies relationships and implications of collected data for patient care through the nursing interview.e.) Identifies and interprets abnormal diagnostic data and incorporates it in the written assessment.f.) Identifies verbal and nonverbal communication problems of residents and/or family.g.) Integrates assessment data and identifies all appropriate priority nursing diagnosis.h.) Identifies implications of resident age in assessment of needs and identification of nursing diagnosis.i.) Responsible for total evaluation of resident's plan of care.b.) Utilizes data obtained from resident/family and/or significant other to re-evaluate resident care.c.) Gives direct care to residents with complicated nursing problems and assists with residents in unstable conditions.2. Performs treatments and may do medication pass as need arises with residents.3. Assists with answering call lights as needed.4. Follows up on observations reported by NA/R's.5. Listens to nursing report regarding residents, if necessary gives taped nursing report to on-coming shift 6. If necessary receives report from NA/R's and LPN's, and makes appropriate recommendations, and takes action as needed as it relates to resident care.7. Makes rounds a minimum of every two hours to assess residents paying particular attention to condition changes, repositioning of residents, and general overall appearance of residents.8. Accompany physicians on rounds9. Assist physician with minor procedures as necessary. 10. Find replacement staff for ill employees:- Replace ill calls in absence of scheduler- Reassign residents to staff to reflect changes11. Determine resident acuity/staffing for day and determine productive nursing hours needed to adjust staffing ratios accordingly.12. Is familiar with all emergency and evacuation plans and institutes as needed to ensure resident safety.13. Performs accurate blood-glucose monitoring for residents, and administers insulin per facility policy to assigned residents.PRIORITY: A % OTIME: 10% DCRETION: AE.
