[*About The Role*]
The [*technical rehabilitation worker for deaf and hard of hearing*]customers will work within a large Adult Social Care service. This is a dynamic service which aims to place the customer at the centre of service delivery, promoting independence, choice and control and offering advice, care and support to a range of vulnerable adults with social care needs in the borough. The Technical Rehabilitation Worker is pivotal in achieving these principles.
[*Kety Accountabilities*]
The post holder will be responsible for assessing the needs of residents of Camden who are deaf/hard of hearing. This may involve:
• The provision and demonstration of equipment of adaptations and equipment,
• The provision of information and technical advice to enable independent living, joint working with other Camden services and partners and possible referrals to other agencies.
• To be responsible for the registration of deaf/hard of hearing people
• To promote a safe environment, minimisation of risk for deaf/hard of hearing people within the home and community environment
• To access appropriate assistive technology (including the management and maintenance of hearing aids) to promote customer independent
The post holder will promote the wellbeing and independence of people who are deaf/hard of hearing and enable integration into the wider community. This may involve raising awareness of the issues faced by deaf and hard of hearing customers in daily life.
You will work in an integrated way with a multi-professional network to ensure customers live their lives to the optimum. The role includes providing innovative solutions to individual need by working collaboratively with the customers to agree personalised outcomes.
There is an expectation that post holders will work in a flexible manner, undertaking such other duties as may be required according to the needs of the service as directed by the Operational Manager and/or departmental senior management.
[*Skills and experience*]
• Advanced Diploma in technical and rehabilitation with deaf people or equivalent
• Level 1 BSL (British Sign Language)
• Qualification in ICT e.g. ECDL
This is a safeguarding role that will require an Enhanced DBS
